Radford U. plans volunteer fair
RADFORD - A Volunteer Fair will be held Jan. 24, from 12-3 p.m., in Radford University's Heth Student Center Ballroom. The fair, sponsored by the Service Learning Center and the Honors Program, promotes campus-based community service and community awareness of local nonprofit agencies.
More than 20 human service agencies, including Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the Women's Resource Center are expected.

Comprehensive plan meetings Jan. 16-30
BLACKSBURG - The 1996 Blacksburg Comprehensive Plan sector meetings will begin on Tuesday, and continue through Jan. 30. The town has been divided into sectors to plan future land use. The purpose of sector meetings is to identify unique sector characteristics, anticipate future problems that need to be addressed and develop a future land use plan for each sector.
Meetings are:
Tuesday, 7-9 p.m., for the Old Town sector (including downtown and central residential districts) at Blacksburg Municipal Building, Council Chambers, 300 S. Main St.
Thursday, 7-9 p.m., for the North End sector (including the North Main Street area between Patrick Henry Drive and the corporate limits), at Blacksburg Christian Fellowship, 2300 N. Main St.
Jan. 22, 7-9 p.m., for Midtown Crescent sector (including those areas reaching from the 460 Bypass between Prices Fork Road and Toms Creek Road, east to Windsor Hills and Piedmont, to Highland Park, Nellies Cave Road, and including Airport Acres and Miller Southside neighborhoods), at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, corner of Church and Eakin streets.
Jan. 24, 7-9 p.m., South End sector (from Ellet and Hubbard streets, south to the corporate limits), at Townside Realty, 2803 S. Main Street.
Jan. 30, 7-9 p.m., Hethwood sector, at Kipps Elementary School, Prices Fork Road.
