LINDY WORSHOPS SET IN BLACKSBURG

The Southwest Virginia Swing Dance Society will host a series of Lindy workshops on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Unitarian Fellowship Hall, 1301 Gladewood Rd., Blacksburg. A class for beginners is from 10-11:15 a.m., Intermediate Class I is 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m., and a more advanced class, Intermediate Class II is 2-3:15 p.m.

Leslie Coombs, the instructor, has taught the Lindy (or Lindy Hop) for 10 years. The dance originated in the 1920s at Harlem's Savoy Ballroom. All workshops are $12 at the door. Cost is reduced for members, people who register early or who take more than one workshop.
