Celeste Tatum Derey and Douglas William Brogdon were married January 13, 1996, at 4:30 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. John R. Furman officiating. The reception was held at the Roanoke Marriott.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford W. Derey of Roanoke. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ernest Fralin of Rocky Mount, Va. and Mrs. Vernon Derey of Bristol, Tn. The groom is the son of Capt. (Ret.) and Mrs. William J. Brogdon of Cape Carteret, N.C.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a formal gown of candlelight silk with a scoop neck and Victorian fitted sleeves. The bodice was accented with beadwork and pearls. The natural waistline lead to a ball-gown skirt with a beaded edge and cathedral train. The attendants wore deep plum full length, fitted suits.
Matron of honor was Beverly Gillespie Finnen of Wake Forest, N.C., friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kathryn Ellen Styers of Gastonia, N.C., Nancy Haynes Moseley of Cary, N.C., Kathryn Shea Anderson of Raleigh, N.C., Holly Dair Brown of Atlanta, Ga., friends of the bride, and Nell Pratt Cross of Waynesboro, Va., cousin of the bride. The flower girl was MaryBeth Jones, and the acolytes were Robbie Jones and William Brinser, cousins of the bride.
The best man was Capt. (Ret.) William J. Brogdon, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Scott Edward Brogdon of Lexington, N.C., brother of the groom, Walter Leaton Derey of Roanoke, Va., brother of the bride, Michael Boysen Diemer, James William Lutz, Mark Gordon Parker, and Blaine Carl Vijda, all of Raleigh, N.C., friends of the groom.
Music for the service was by Top Brass and Janet Washington and John Obenshain accompanied by Jennifer Moorer. Photography was by Jim Markey.
The bride is a graduate of Northside High School and Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C. She is Assistant Director of Alumnae Relations at Meredith College. The groom is a graduate of Kinston High School in Kinston, N.C. and Elon College, Elon College, N.C. He is a recruiter for Coastal Governmental Services.
Following a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple will live in Raleigh, N.C. Cox-Shrader
Elizabeth Ellen Shrader and Michael Edward Cox were married Sunday, December 17, at New Dublin Presbyterian Church in Dublin, Virginia. The Rev. Benton J. Trawick and the Rev. J. Kearfott Boyd officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gleaves F. Shrader, Jr., of Dublin. Her maternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Arney L. Fulcher of Wytheville. The bride's paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Gleaves F. Shrader, Sr., of Wytheville.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Sandria W. Cox and the late Mr. Billy J. Cox of Radford. His maternal grandparents are Mrs. Dorothy W. Long and the lat e Mr. William F. Webb, Sr., and Mr. Vance W. Long of Richlands. The groom's paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Toy L. Cox of Lebanon.
The bride wore an elegant ivory georgette shantung gown designed by Bonny. Cutout floral lace motifs and pearled embroidery adorned the high scoop neckline, basque waistline, long sleeves, and cathedral train. She carried her maternal grandmother's Bible that was covered in an ivory linen handkerchief used at the bride's christening and given to her by her godfather, Mr. Robert E. Lyon. Champagne colored roses, variegated holly, and trailing ivy adorned the top of the Bible.
Miss Daniela Anna Benshalom of Washington, D.C. was maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Kerrie Foster Cobb of Richmond, Miss Kendal Kathleen Foster of Blacksburg, Mrs. Susanne Weeks Huff of Blacksburg, and Mrs. Laura Richardson Kappeler of Bluefield, W.Va.
Honorary bridesmaids were Mrs. Karen Belcher Dishon of Radford who attended the guest book, Miss Susan Louise Dobyns of Dublin, and Mrs. Elizabeth Sparks Vaught of La Plata, Md.
The groom's brother, Mr. W. Frederick Cox of Salisbury, N.C., was best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Michael A. Barnes of Ronceverte, W.Va., Mr. L. Joseph Trigg of Radford, Mr. R. Brian Webb of Richlands, and Mr. Eric M. White of Radford.
Former music professor of the bride, Dr. James Leland of Hollins College, was organist. The wedding was directed by Miss Sue Thompson of Dublin.
The bride is a 1988 graduate of Pulaski County High School and a 1992 graduate of Hollins College in Roanoke. She is currently completing her graduate work at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where she will received a master's degree in art therapy.
The groom graduated from Pulaski County High School in 1987 and attended New River Community College and Radford University. He is employed as a Deputy Sheriff with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office in Leesburg.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. William Brokaw Hosp and the late Mr. Hosp. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. Richard Ernest Day and Mrs. William Alfred Crandall. The officiating minister was the Rev. Dr. W. Philip West, and music was provided by A. Robert Chapman, organist. The bride was escorted to the altar by her brother, William Brokaw Hosp, Jr.
The matron of honor was Susan Ellen Hares of Minot, N. D., and the maid of honor was Lou Anne Gott of Roanoke. The bridesmaids were Lindsay Rae Hares of Minot, N. D., and Sara Diane Day, niece of the groom of Roanoke. The guestbook was attended by Susan Shirley and Debbie Day.
Richard Ernest Day was his son's best man. The ushers were Samuel Barnhart Hosp, brother of the bride of Richmond, Benjamin Hamilton Hosp, nephew of the bride, and Curtis Darryl Day, Jr., nephew of the groom, both of Roanoke. A reception was held following the ceremony at the Roanoke Moose Lodge.
The bride is a graduate of Cave Spring High School. She attended Virginia Western Community College, and she earned an Associate Degree in Marketing and Management from Tampa College, Tampa, Florida, where she is currently working on her B. S. degree. She is employed as a ma nager for American Family Restaurants.

An Open House was hosted by the bride's family.
Mary graduated from Roanoke College and will graduate in May from the nursing program of Virginia Western Community College. She is employed by the Adult Care Center of Virginia and the Carter Athletic Center.
Chip is the General Manager of Virginia Varsity Transfer and attends Virginia Western Community College.

The Memorial Chapel at Virginia Tech was the setting for the December twenty-ninth wedding of Cynthia Jane Kelley and John Charles Peterson. The Reverend Steven Darr officiated. The reception following the candlelight ceremony was held at the Red Lion Inn.
The bride was given in marriage by her stepfather, Ron Hollingsworth of Daleville, Virginia. The maid of honor was Stephanie Dowling of Blacksburg, Virginia, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Beth Szabo of Starkville, Mississippi and Tania Lantz of Washington, D.C., both friends of the bride. Elinor Reina of Port Chester, New York, niece of the groom, was flower girl.
Scott Honess of Mentor, Ohio, a friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Dr. Mark Lattanzi of Harrisonburg, Virginia and Dr. Kurt Neidigh of Fredericksburg, Virginia, friends of the groom.
The bride's gown, designed by Susan Brent, featured an off-the-shoulder ivory velvet tail coat with braid, seed pearl beading, and bow accents. A matching bouffant skirt in ivory duchesse satin extended into a cathedral length train edged in braid and seed pearls. The bride wore a matching velvet and pearl beaded Juliet cap featu ring a cathedral length layered illusion with pearl accents. She carried a silk bouquet of English cabbage roses, renunculae, winter berries and pine.
The bride is the daughter of Melodye Hollingsworth and the granddaughter of Ruth Beard and the lare R.C. Beard, all of Roanoke, Virginia. She is a graduate of Lord Botetourt High School, James Madison University, and VPI & SU holding Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English. She is employed by Amherst County Public Schools.
The groom is the son of Douglas and Lois Peterson of Watsontown, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Waynesboro High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He is attending Central Virginia Community College while being employed as an audio technical consultant for Teleworks Inc. of Blacksburg, Virginia, and as a radio announcer for WKDE in Altavista, Virginia.

The marriage was performed at the First Baptist Church in Manning, South Carolina, by the Reverend Dr. Paul Sullivan, pastor. Following the ceremony, a dinner was held at Plums Restaurant in Sumter, South Carolina.
