IN SERVICE

Navy Chief Petty Officer Anthony Snell recently received the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal while serving at the U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station, Western Pacific, Guam. He was recognized for his outstanding performance as operations chief.

Snell, a 1982 graduate of Pulaski County high School, is the son of Carlotta Lewis of Dublin. He joined the Navy October 1982.

Army Spec. Marc Sutphin recently completed the U.S. Army Primary Leadership Development Course at Camp Jackson, South Korea. Sutphin is a fire direction specialist. He is the son of Jerry Sutphin of Christiansburg. |n n Air Force Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Baker reported for duty at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage, Alaska. Baker , a communications-computer systems operations journeyman, graduated from Blacksburg High School in 1989. He is the son of Joseph and Patricia Baker of Blacksburg.

Navy Constructionman Christopher Louderback is one of 200 Navy Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 to depart for Croatia. Louderback, who is home-based in Gulfport, Miss., was on a six-month deployment to Rota, Spain, when he was ordered to the Balkan country.

Louderback is a 1993 graduate of Narrows High School and joined the Navy January 1994. He is the son of Rosita Hundley of Narrows.

Scott White of Elliston recently joined the U.S. Army under the Delayed Enlistment Program at the U.S. Army Recruiting Station in Christiansburg. A 1995 graduate of Shawsville High School, White will enter basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C., in February. He is the son of Ronny and Wanda White of Elliston.

Two 1995 graduates of Pulaski County High School recently completed 11 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. They are:

Marine Pvt. Robert Jackson son of Kermit Jackson and Jenny Shepherd, both of Pulaski.

Marine Pvt. Danny LeBarre son of Brenda Lawson of Pulaski.
