Nikki Giovanni, a nationally recognized poet and a Virginia Tech English professor, will speak at Radford University Thursday on equality in education and civil rights.
Giovanni has been a best-selling poet, author and essayist since 1968, publishing more than 20 books of poetry and essays, including "Racism 101," a look at Americans and the race issue. Her writings and talks have put her in a prominent place in the contemporary Black American community. She has been named woman of the year by three magazines and has received many honorary doctorates and awards.
