ETS TO SELL SYSTEM IN KOREA DEAL REACHED FOR POLLUTION DEVICE

ETS International Inc. of Roanoke said Thursday that its subsidiary, ETS Inc., has signed an agreement with Korea Cottrell Co. Ltd. to manufacture and sell its limestone emission control system in South Korea.

Korea Cottrell is a leading supplier of air pollution control equipment in Asia. The Seoul-based company designs, manufactures and supplies electrostatic precipitators, bag filters, pneumatic ash handling systems and acid treatment systems.

The company has factories and offices in South Korea, the Philippines and Taiwan.

The limestone emission control system is an ETS-patented technology that lessens acid rain by reducing sulfur oxide emissions from industrial and utility smoke stacks.

After a 10-year research and development program that was completed in 1992, the system is being sold in North America and Taiwan under licenses granted by ETS to two other air pollution equipment suppliers. The first commercial unit was brought on line in Taiwan about 15 months ago.

ETS Inc. president John Mycock said South Korea is one of the best market opportunities for air pollution control equipment. He said Korea Cottrell is the premier Korean supplier of environmental control equipment.

ETS International provides environmental and construction products and services. It specializes in toxic emission measurement and control.
