Fiedler's "The Calm After the Storm" is one of the award-winning
quilts in this show by Fringe Benefits, a group of 10 professional
quilt makers from Southwest Virginia and Eastern Tennessee. Fiedler,
a native of Meadows of Dan, says she loves studying the never-ending
interactions of different color combinations in her quilting. Her
inspiration, she notes, comes from nature. You can meet Fiedler and
the other artists Sunday at a reception at the center. It runs from
2 to 4 p.m., and admission is free. color.
