PRICES FORK WATER SUPPLY BACK TO NORMAL

Prices Fork's public water system is back to its normal capacity after the county Public Service Authority restored a second well to service over the weekend.

The PSA took that step after the state Health Department informed it that water samples taken from the well had all come out OK, said Gary Gibson, utilities director.

PSA workers delivered written notices of the well going back on line over the weekend to all of the system's 250 customers in Prices Fork and the Montgomery Farms neighborhood.

Last week, the utility took the well out of service and urged customers to boil their water after sediment showed up in water lines. The PSA feared the cloudy water came from an infiltration of contaminated surface water. The PSA lifted the boil notice on Thursday, but kept the second well off-line and urged customers to conserve water.

The Health Department cleared the water samples from the second well late Friday afternoon and it was put into service soon afterward, Gibson said.
