BOWLING, Ralph O. 61, of Salem, died Wednesday, January 31, 1996 at Lewis Gale Hospital. He was retired from the Food Employers Labor Relations Association. Mr. Bowling was an active member of Locust Grove United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Calhoun Bowling; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kari Bowling, Vacaville, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Joe Crowder, Port Penn, Del.; four grandchildren, Paul, Melanie, Joe and Ben; five sisters, Eleanor Covington, Roanoke; Gladys Elliott, Shipman; Ethel Brewster, Ruth Chambers and Dorothy Bowling, all North Tazewell; and a dear friend, Richard Hale. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 2 at 11 a.m. at the Locust Grove United Methodist Church, Salem with the Rev. Mike Derflinger officiating. Interment will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Sugar Grove, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, February 1 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. The body will also be at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Locust Grove United Methodist Church or the National Cancel Society.

CUMMINGS, Arthur W., 78, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, January 30, 1996. Formerly of Hampton, Mr. Cummings was a member of a Masonic lodge in New York City and was a retired accountant. Surviving are his wife, Joan M. Cummings; son and daughter-in-law, Arthur W. and Carole Cummings, Huntersville, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Joan C. and Harold Witt, Roanoke; grandchil dren, Heather Cummings, Pineville, N.C., Michele and Scott Butcher, Roanoke, Michael and Michelle Fairtrace, Bedford County; great-granddaughter, Miranda Fairtrace. DENSMORE, Grace Williams, 95, of Roanoke, formerly of Salem, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 1996 at the Raleigh Court Health Care Center. She was the widow of J. Arthur Densmore. A member of Calvary Baptist Church and retired clerk from the Norfolk Western Railway. Surviving are a brother, Forrest S. William s; two nieces, Alice G. Mundy, and Mary E. Hinman, both of Roanoke; a nephew, Warren W. Gilbert and wife, Hassie, Roanoke; wife of the deceased nephew, Leonard Gilbert, Louise C. Gilbert, Daleville; numerous great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 10:30 a.m. Friday with Dr. Harry Y. Gamble officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. HOLLINS, Herman Archie, 69, of Hopewell, died Tuesday, January 30, 1996 in John Randolph Hosptial. He was born in Bluefield, W.Va. and was a resident of Hopewell for the past 35 years. Mr. Hollins was a retired millwright with Allied Chemical Corp., a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, a member of the Masonic Lodge #163 of Roanoke and member of the Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God in Hopewell. He was the son of the late Archie and Minerva Conner Hollins. Surviving are his wife, Bessie Chandler Hollins of Hopewell; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia H. and David Timothy Webb of Chester; three grandchildren, David Jeffrey Webb, Stephen Timothy Webb and Jennifer Ashley Webb all of Chester; a brother, Emory Hollins of Roanoke; three sisters, Kathryn Hardy of Roanoke, Virgie Bowers of Colonial Heights and Delores Smithson of Petersburg. A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Friday, February 2, 1996 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney Mason, Pastor of the Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God, officiating. HOSTETTER, Lydia Kathleen, 73, of Lexington, formerly of Buena Vista, died Wednesday, January 31, 1996, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. Born on January 17, 1923, in Buena Vista, she was the daughter of the late James Oscar Hamilton and Georgia Tomlin Hamilton. Mrs. Hostetter was the widow of Eldon Hostetter. Surviving are a daughter, Imogeme C. Lotts of Natural Bridge; a sister, Dean Broughman of Lexington; four grandchildren, and seven great-grand children. A graveside service will be conducted Friday, February 2, 1996, at 2 p.m., from the Green Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Glenn W. Coleman officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
