A group of the nation's biggest car dealers said Tuesday that it planned to open 100 huge used-car dealerships, hoping to change significantly the way Americans buy used cars.
Driver's Mart Worldwide Inc. will stock 350 to 650 cars and trucks at each dealership, offer detailed warranties and fix prices, chief executive Thomas Eggleston said.
Salespeople will work on salary, rather than commission; the chain hopes this will lessen the incentive to pressure customers.
