A community dialogue on future school building needs in Pulaski County will get under way at 7 p.m. tonight in the Commons at Pulaski County High School.
School officials have set up the meeting to seek the feelings of parents and citizens on whether the county needs to consolidate school buildings, close some schools, renovate existing buildings or construct new ones.
Data on these questions has been gathered over the past two years, and an architectural firm has been hired to outline the advantages and disadvantages of each alternative.
The school board has said one or more of these steps will have to be taken if Pulaski County's school system is to be able to offer a quality education in the 21st century.
Computers and other technological necessities require such improvements as upgraded wiring and air conditioning, and people at the meeting will get a chance to compare how expensive those innovations would be as part of school remodeling or constructing new facilities.
