Emmons anniversary
Howard and Virginia Swann Emmons will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on February 9th. They were married in 1946 in Harrisonburg, Va. by the Rev. Earl Bonman in the Church of the Brethren. They have 3 sons and a daughter: Fred E. Emmons and Debbie; Tony E. Emmons and Vickie; Tim H. Emmons and Alice; and Annette E. Byrd and Rodney. They have 10 much loved grandchildren. Howard and Virginia are retired from Roanoke City Schools.
Hodgson anniversary
George and Helen Hodgson recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married Jan. 26, 1946 by the Rev. J. F. Hodgson. Mrs. Hodgson is the former Helen Emmert of Bristol, Tn. They have one daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Teddy Adkins, and two grandchildren, Ama nda and Christopher Adkins. Mr. Hodgson is a retired Postmaster from the United States Postal Service. Mrs. Hodgson is a homemaker. They are active members of Locust Grove United Methodist Church and Masonic Bodies, Shrine Organization and Mended Hearts as volunteers at Lewis-Gale and Roanoke Memorial Hospitals
Keyton anniversary
Nelson and Cathy Keyton announce their third anniversary February 9, the happiest three years of their life.
Stone anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. William C. Stone, Jr., are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today with a family luncheon hosted by their sons at Hotel Roanoke.
They were married February 9, 1946, at Trinity Methodist Church in Lynchburg. She is the former Edith Marie White.
They have two sons and a daughter-in law, Jerry A. Stone of Roanoke, an d Jeffrey L. and Betsy H. Stone of Salem, and two granddaughters, Jennifer L. Stone and Laura E. Stone of Salem.
Attending the luncheon are out-of-town guests from Lynchburg, Hampton and Charlotte, N. C.
The Kesslers Golden Anniversary 1946-1996
John C. and Nellie A. Kessler will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on February 14, 1996. They were married at the Belmont Presbyterian Church on February 14, 1946. They have two children, David and Steve Kessler, and three grandchildren, Angela, Kyle and Kenan.
John served with the paratroopers in World War II. He worked for the Roanoke Times and World News for 33 years before his retirement in 1984. Nellie was a doctor's assistant and lab technician for 24 years before her retirement in 1985. A joyous dinner celebration with their children and grandchildren is planned.
Woody anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. James Woody will celebrate their 50th anniversary on February 15, 1996. They were married February 15, 1946, in Rocky Mount, Va. Mrs. Woody is the former Vivian Poindexter of Rocky Mount, Va., and Mr. Woody is from Franklin Co., Va. They are the parents of four children, Andrea Williams and Patrick Woody of Roanoke, Va., James R. Woody of Houston, Texas, and Chris Woody of Winston-Salem, N. C. They also have five grandchildren. Mr. Woody is retired from the VA Medical Center and also as an auto mechanic, and Mrs. Woody is currently employed as a child care provider at First Baptist Church.
