Design forum
BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech Design Consortium will hold a design forum today through Sunday. The forum promotes collaboration among Tech's design programs.
Eight teams, each with a student from apparel design, art, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and theatre arts, will be presented with a design and materials to produce a solution to a design problem.
Jeanne Howard Roper, a professor in the Urban Affairs and Planning Department at Virginia Tech will speak on tonight at 6:30 on the topic, "The Future, Looking at the Year 2000."

Play performance
BLACKSBURG - Playmakers and the American Association for University Women is sponsoring a performance of "House of Frankenstein," by Martin Downing, on Friday, Mar. 15.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance by calling Ida Comparin at 552-8844. Proceeds go toward the award for Blacksburg's Teacher of the Year award.
Smart Road display
BLACKSBURG - An exhibit that provides an overview of Virginia's initiatives on the Intelligent Transportation System, the Smart Road, and the use of satellite navigation techniques will be on display from Feb. 23 through Feb. 28, at the New River Valley Mall. Volunteers and staff of the Center for Transportation Research will be available to answer questions.
