GOODRICH, Whilma Pashley Myers, 87, of Roanoke, died Sunday, February 18, 1996. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Myers; her second husband, Cecil S. Goodrich, and a daughter, Joanne Myers Campagna. Surviving are her daughters, Cecile Goodrich Wallace and Diana Goodrich Noch; a sister, Josephine Brockman; grandchildren, Janet C. Holstein, Laurie C. Gibson, Emily Goodrich Wallace, Aaron Goodrich Wallace, Myles Goodrich Wallace, Duane Noch, Marilyn Noch and Joseph Noch, and great-grandchildren, Jacob Holstein and Christopher Gibson. HOOSIER, William Allen Sr., 84, of Bastian, died Saturday, February 17, 1996 in the Bluefield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Smyth County, the son of the late William M. and Nancy Blevins Hoosier. H e was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Hoosier in December 1995. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha E. Hoosier of the home; one son, William Allen Hoosier Jr. of Bastian; four daughters, Jean Carter of Cleveland, Ohio, Nancy Hamblin of Roanoke, Joyce Lambert of Florence, S.C., Brenda Beckner of Salem, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 1996 at the Newberry Funeral Chapel with Pastor Harry Sharley and the Rev. James Beavers officiating. HUFFMAN, Grover Arnold, 49, of Troutville, died Friday, February 16, 1996. He had been employed by the Southwest Construction Company of Vinton. Survivors include his wife, Frances Moses Huffman; two sons, Bruce E. Huffman, John R. Huffman, both of Troutville; father, Grover W. Huffman, Troutville; stepmother, Ruth Caldwell Huffman, Troutville; three brothers, Clinton Huffman, Hollins, Roger Huffman, Roanoke, David Huffman, Troutville; sisters, Linda Rhoades, Darlene Odom, both of Missouri, Patricia Sweeney, Tennessee. LEHMANN, Chrystella, of Cardinal, passed away Saturday, February 17, 1996. She was 97. A former resident of Roanoke, Miss Lehmann was for many years a teacher at Stonewall Jackson Junior High School. There are no immediate survivors, as she was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Marie Lehmann of Washington, D.C., and two brothers, John Wesley Lehmann and Nathaniel Reid Lehmann of Roanoke. MILLER, Robert J., 70, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, February 17, 1996. He was a retired pilot with Piedmont Airlines. Mr. Miller served on the Board of Director s of Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway, and was a member of the Quiet Birdmen. Surviving are his wife, Jean Pugh Miller; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark A. and Kristie B. Miller of Salem; two brothers, E. J. Miller of Salem and J. Hunter Miller of Roanoke; two sisters, Ora Mae Sluss of Roanoke and Peggy Ellis of Bradenton, Fla., and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 554, Roanoke, Va. 24003-0554, or to a favorite charity. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Oakey's North Chapel by Dr. Carl E. Savage and the Rev. Roy S. Whitescarver. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. MINNICK, Walter B., 78, of Christiansburg, died Saturday evening, February 17, 1996 at the home of his stepdaughter and son-in-law. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha W. Minnick and a daughter, Shelby M. Thompson. Surviving are three sons and their wives, Jack and Catherine Minnick, Lynwood (Shorty) and Nannie Minnick, Donald (Buck) and Eloise Minnick all of Christiansburg; one stepson and his wife, Ezra and Mildred Wirt of Hillsville; one stepdaughter and her husband, Jean and Winston Thompson of Floyd; 12 grandchildren, Wayne Minnick, Pilot, Randolph Minnick, Dennis Minnick, Jennifer Grane, Denise Yopp, Nancy Stanger, Betsy Minnick, Nathan Minnick all of Christiansburg, Robin Barker, Cheryl Minnick both of Blacksburg, Vanessa Minnick, Hot Springs, and Leslie Hetherington, Pearisburg; six stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Nadine and Holly Phillips of Roanoke. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Holly Phillips with burial in the Centennial Church Cemetery, McCoy. NIETZOLD, George Ernest, 82, of Blacksburg, died Saturday, February 17, 1996 at Vencor Hospital, Greensboro, N.C. Born in Kemtau, Saxony, Germany on November 7, 1913, he was the son of the late Emil Ernst Nietzold and Elsa Lina Weiss Nietzold. Mr. Nietzold was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, New York State Ranger School Alumni Association, Society of American Foresters, University of Idaho Alumni Association, and Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He is survived by his wife, Louise Virginia Gregory Nietzold; one son and daughter-in-law, William E. and Linda H. Nietzold, Blacksburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia A. Nietzold and Tyrell P. Boggs, Portland, Oregon; two grandchildren, Christopher E. Nietzold and Megan E. Nietzold both of Blacksburg; a sister, Elfreda Matott, Moneta, Va.; and a stepsister, Elsie Kayhart, South Harwich, Mass. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Februray 21, 1996 at Northside Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Hugh Springer officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. PACE, Charles Richard Jr., 70, of Urbanna, died Friday, February 16, 1996. He was born in Charlottesville, and graduated from Charlottesville High School and the University of Virginia. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Mr. Pace was employed by the James River Limestone Co. from 1968 until the present, where he had held various positions including: Vice President, President of Benwood Limestone Co., Inc. (a subsidiary) and served as a director on the board of James River. He is survived by his wife, Bettie Woodward Pace; a daughter, Jennifer P. Gray of Ellicott City, Md.; two grandsons, Ryan James Gray and Joshua Charles Gray. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home, Saluda. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hill and Wood Funeral Home, Charlottesville. PORTER, Elizabeth Thacker, 84, of Rt. 3, Max Meadows, died Saturday, February 17, 1996 in the Pulaski Communiy Hospital. She was born in Wythe County, the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Thacker and Ruth Harvey Thacker. She was a member of the Max Meadows United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Graham Porter and a brother, Marshall Thacker. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert F. and Lorraine Porter of Rt. 3, Max Meadows; a granddaughter, Holli Lynn Porter; a sister, Lillian Franklin of Roanoke; a brother, Donald Thacker of Kingsport, Tenn. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 1996 at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Morris officiating. WIMMER, R. Edwa rd, 62, of Newport News, died Saturday, February 17, 1996 in MCV Hospital while awaiting a heart transplant. Mr. Wimmer was a native of Salem, Va. and a Peninsula resident for the past 15 years. An active member of Parkview United Methodist Church, he was also a member of American Legion Post 25 and was formerly a member of the York Exchange Club. He is survived by his wife, Jean Jarvis Wimmer; three sons, Michael T. Wimmer and his wife, Clara of Roanoke, Jay Ross of New York City, and John Ross of Newport News; a sister, Trudy Gresham and her husband, Jim of Duck, N.C.; a brother, Joseph L. Wimmer of Salem; his mother, LaRue Wimmer of Salem; and two grandchildren, Alesea Wimmer and Isabelle Wimmer both of Roanoke. A memorial service will be conducted 7 p.m. Tuesday in Parkview United Methodist Church by the Rev. F.W. ``Chip"" Giessler. The family will receive friends at the church following the service and at other times at home. WRAY, Aradna Guthrie, 88, of Boones Mill, died Sunday, February 18, 1996 in a Roanoke hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude E. Wray and a son, Melvin Lee Wray. She was a member of Cedar Bluff Church of the Br etheren. Surviving include two sons and daughter-in-law, James R. Wray, Roanoke and Kenneth A. and Marie Wray, Boones Mill; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis W. and Gene Poff, Salem; sister, Juanita Mills; brothers, Claude Guthrie, Riley Guthrie, Emmett Guthrie, Robert Guthrie all of Boones Mill, and Charles C. Guthrie of Florida; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Effie Guthrie, Boones Mill.
