BLACKSBURG - Donna R. Tyson, president of D. R. Tyson Management, will speak on Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m., at the Holiday Inn in Blacksburg. Tyson's presentation "Riding the Crest" includes lessons on personal and professional growth and techniques for dealing with stress and negativity.

Free surfing
DUBLIN - The Southwest Virginia Governor's School is letting people surf the Internet free on its computers from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, for the rest of the 1995-96 school year.
Business leaders and parents of Governor's School students are invited to spend their lunch hours getting acquainted with the World Wide Web, with help from faculty and students at the school.
They will be able to see what is available on the World Wide Web, look up resources, or just see what all the talk of an information superhighway is all about. They can call ahead to reserve a spot at 674-1980.
Part of the school's Internet connection has come from a NASA Langley Research Center grant.
Auction planned
RADFORD - Vacations, jewelry, airline tickets and a car will be among the items available at the Radford Chamber of Commerce Auction Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Norwood Room in downtown Radford at 7 p.m. Cost is $25.
The auction's theme, "Trip Down Memory Lane," will feature 1950s decor, will include a social "Betty Boop" buffet dinner, silent action and live auction. Participants also will have a chance to hoola hoop in a contest and dance to 1950s music.
The chamber relies on the auction to support its budget and maintain its services. The auction also helps finance the chamber office, which serves as Radford's visitor's center.
Ken Farmer, dressed as the King-Elvis, will be the auctioneer. Auction items include a new GEO Metro Coupe, Homestead weekend suite, Cannon fax machine and art work by original artists. For more information, call the Chamber of Commerce at 639-2202.
