Freshman shooting guard Michael Hunter, from Alleghany High School, earned first-team honors and also was named the league's rookie of the year. Point guard Marcus Toney (Magna Vista) took second-team honors.
It got better with the women. The Panthers (15-9) had the league's player of the year, Kia Williams, and Donna Doonan was voted coach of the year. Williams averaged 21.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.
