VIRGINIA WILLS' poem, ``James Boitnott Jr.,'' was published in ``Sparkles in the Sand,'' a compilation by the National Library of Poetry.
Wills, of Vinton, has been writing for 11 years. Her favorite themes are the joys and sad times in life, love and children. James Boitnott Jr. was her friend who drowned in the James River.
THE YMCA OF ROANOKE VALLEY has elected officers and board members for 1996: J. Spencer Frantz, president; J. W. Kirk III, vice president; William O. Sparrow, secretary; and Frank Mayorshi, treasurer.
Those elected to three-year terms on the board of directors are: James Breakell, Paul Buford, H. Clarke Curtis, Charles Saldarini, Don Smith and Diane Strickland.
