Aaron Myers scored five of Giles' 11 points in overtime as the Spartans upset Floyd County, the top-ranked Group A team in The Associated Press' poll, 60-55 on Friday to win the Three Rivers District tournament championship in Blacksburg.
Giles led 49-46 before the Buffaloes' Adam Harris hit a 3-pointer with five seconds left to tie the score. Floyd County had a chance to win in regulation after Travis Cantrell intercepted the inbounds pass, but he missed a contested layup at the buzzer, sending the game in overtime.
Myers, who scored a game-high 18 points, hit two baskets and a free throw in overtime to lead the Spartans. Cantrell, who finished with 17, scored all six of the Buffaloes' points in overtime.
Anthony Myers added 14 points, and Robbie Claytor had 10 for the Spartans.
Harris finished with 10 for the Buffaloes.
Mountain Empire
Galax 52, Rocky Gap 42: In Wytheville, Rodney Sawyers powered the Maroon Tide's inside game as Galax upset the second-seeded Eagles in a semifinal game.
Sawyers, a 6-foot-2 center scored a team-high 19 points to lead the Maroon Tide into the final against Fort Chiswell. Ken Houtz added 12 points.
Nathan Blessing, Rocky Gap's center, scored 24 points, half coming from the free-throw line. The district's leading leading scorer, Will Dodson, was held to eight points for the Eagles.
Fort Chiswell 72, Grayson County 59, OT: The Pioneers' bench came up big, accounting for 46 points, as Fort Chiswell upset the top-seeded Blue Devils in overtime in the semifinals.
Heath Bralley put on a clinic leading the Pioneers into the finals. He scored a game-high 24 points off the bench, nine of which came in the overtime and seven of those points came from the free-throw line. As a team, Fort Chiswell (11-10) sank 15-of-21 free-throw attempts in overtime.
Reserves Derrick Jackson and Mike White each scored 11 points for the Pioneers, and Anthony Watson had 10.
Chad Shaffner paced the Blue Devils (16-4) with 21 points.
Grayson County had already earned a trip to the Region C tournament by virtue of its regular season title.
Hogoheegee
George Wythe 58, Lebanon 50: Ted Ring scored 12 of his game-high 22 points in the second half, including seven in the fourth quarter as George Wythe stormed from behind to knock off Lebanon and win the tournament title in Marion.
Brian Barnes scored 13 of his 17 points in the second half and Freddy Moses added 10 for the Maroons (20-4).
Pioneer
Bath County 55, James River 38: The Chargers took control of a close game in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Knights 22-8 to advance to the finals.
Stewart Alexander led the Chargers (18-3) with 15 points.
The Knights end the season at 11-11.
Glenvar 53, Parry McCluer 46: The Highlanders took a big early lead and cruised into the final with a victory over the Fighting Blues.
Glenvar (16-5) was led by James Williams' 23 points and Corey Willis' 22 points.
Parry McCluer (15-7) was led by Boo Rowsey's 11 points.

Carlisle 69, Timberlake Christian 60: Lamont Franklin scored seven of his 12 points in the fourth quarter as Carlisle held off a late rally by Timberlake Christian to advance to the final of the Virginia Independent Conference tournament in Lynchburg.
Thursday's games
Carlisle 60, Eastern Mennonite 39: Bryant Redd had three 3-pointers in the first quarter as the Chiefs won in the Virginia Independent Conference tournament at Lynchburg College.
Oak Hill JV 88, Covington Boys' Home 57: The Warriors (11-0) outscored the Indians 24-0 in the first quarter and coasted in Covington. Sean Riddick led Covington Boys' Home (12-13) with 15 points.
