3 BODIES FOUND AT HOUSE AT LEAST 10 SHOTS FIRED IN BLACKSBURG

Police found three people shot dead at a town house Friday afternoon after neighbors reported hearing gunfire.

Town police sealed off 233 Fairfax Road in the Fairfax Pointe town houses immediately after the 3:50 p.m. incident. Police Chief William Brown said two bodies were found in a bedroom and one in the garage.

Susan M. Asbury, 44, of the residence and her husband, Robert L. Asbury, 60, of Christiansburg were found in a bedroom. Donald G. Anderson, 44, of Radford was found in the garage, Brown said.

Brown could not detail the course of events, but did say that no suspects were being sought and that at least 10 shots were fired with two guns. Brown said autopsies will be performed Monday.

The Asburys were living apart, Brown said.

A bullet hole was visible just below the front doorknob.

Police were called to the town house just before 4 p.m. by a caller who reported hearing screams and gunshots. Officers approached the home and had a dispatcher try to telephone. When no one answered, they tested the door, found it unlocked and, minutes later, radioed for two ambulances.

Rescue squad workers remained on the scene until 4:15. A police crime-scene truck stayed behind as officers videotaped the entrance and then moved inside to collect evidence.

Few neighbors appeared to be home shortly after the incident. One neighbor, a few doors away, said she didn't hear anything.

A spokesman for TNT Flinchum Property Management, who owns the building, would not comment Friday afternoon.
