Ivan Trotter and Bryan Jones each captured individual titles to lead Franklin County to the championship of the Northwest Region wrestling tournament held Saturday at Gar-Field High School in Dale City.
The Eagles finished with 196.5 points in capturing their second consecutive regional title and fifth overall. Stonewall Jackson-Manassas was second with 179 points and C.D. Hylton finished third with 177.5. Pulaski County finished eighth, Cave Spring 13th, Patrick Henry 17th and William Fleming 18th in a 19-team field.
Trotter captured the 145-pound weight division with Jones winning at 152. Stacy Menefee and Corey Witcher each finished second in the 103- and 189-pound divisions, respectively. Trung Nguyen, Frankie George and Bruce Cobbs all came in third for the Eagles in the 112-, 125- and 275-pound weight divisions, respectively.
