VINTON SETS MARCH 5 HEARING ON TAX RATES

Vinton Town Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday on the real estate and personal property tax rates for the 1996-97 fiscal year. Council has set a second hearing for May 21.

Vinton's current tax rate is 5 cents per $100 assessed valuation, and the budget for the 1995-96 fiscal year is $5,757,250.

Vinton seeks bids to have tanks checked

Six underground fuel tanks in Vinton - four of them still in use - will be checked to see if they are environmentally safe. The town is seeking bids for the inspections.

March 8 is the the deadline for bids.
