NEIGHBORHOOD NAMES

WELDON T. LAWRENCE has been elected president of the Virginia Museum of Transportation Inc. He succeeds James B. Evans. Other recently elected officers include: Mark T. Lawrence Jr., executive vice president; Jay Brenner, vice president, collections and exhibits; Frances Davis,vice president, finance and development; Lynn Meyer, vice president, volunteer relations; Eugene M. Elliott Jr., treasurer; Thomas A. Leggette, secretary.

Gerald W. Godsey, Maryellen F. Goodlatte, J. Granger Macfarlane, James W. Harkness, W.L. Neal, John W. Hancock Jr., W.G. Blades, Jim Molinary, L.A. Durham Jr., Samuel W. Putney III, and Richard Shell were elected to the board of directors.

ROBERTA McGUIRE of Salem has received the Grumbacher Award for achievement in acrylic painting.

McGuire, a member of the League of Roanoke Artists, won with "Another View," an abstract representing the dichotomy of chaos and order.
