The Roanoke Valley Hokie Club will hold a recruiting meeting with Virginia Tech assistant football coach Bryan Stinespring on Tuesday at the Salem Civic Center.
The meeting starts with a 90-minute social at 5:30 p.m. The club's general meeting begins at 7, with Tech's 1996 football recruits announced at 7:30.
Hors d'oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available. Admission is $5 per person, payable at the door. For reservations, call (540) 231-6618.

* Liberty spoiled the Virginia Tech softball team's home debut Friday, beating the Hokies in both games of a doubleheader.
Gina Miller and Stacy Radulovich each went 2-for-4 as the Flames won the first game 6-1. The Hokies (0-4) recorded their first run of the season when Dawn Medina got a base hit, stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice by Beth Drombella and was driven home by Sarah Wolf's single.
Susan Naylor allowed five hits and struck out one for Liberty (2-0). Tina Diamond took the loss for Tech. She allowed nine hits and struck out five in her second complete game.
Katie Phillips held the Hokies to three hits and struck out four as Liberty won the second game 3-0. Shannon Tanski went 2-for-3 to lead the Flames.
Tech's Heather McKenzie struck out three and allowed six hits in a complete game.
* The Orvis store in Roanoke has scheduled the first of a series of free fly fishing seminars beginning today at 11 a.m. The store is located at 19 Campbell Ave.
Harry Slone, author of ``Virginia Trout Streams,'' will present programs throughout the day on trout streams in the state. On March 19, photographer and author John Rackor will cover fishing in Alaska and Montana.
* Robbie Rasmussen fired a 1-under-par 71 as Virginia Tech finished 13th after the first round of the Matlock Collegiate Classic golf tournament at Imperial Lakes Country Club in Lakeland, Fla. Teammate Sean Farrell carded a 72 on the 6,652-yard course, followed by Chip Glover at 73 and Curtis Deal at 74 as the team finished the day at 290.
Alabama had a 275 to take a one-shot lead over Duke in the 21-team field. Virginia is 20th at 300.
