Rodney P. and Pauline H. Ferguson celebrated their 50th anniversary on February 24, 1996. The celebration was held in the Cave Spring Fire Dept. meeting room. It was hosted by Rodney Ferguson, Jr., Paul Lesko, and Pat Shorter. The couple was married February 23, 1946 in Lexington, Va. Formerly of Glasgow, they have lived in the Roanoke area for 23 years. She's the former Pauline V. Hite. Their children and their spouses are Pat F. and Don Shorter, Buchanan, Paula F. and Tom Lesko, Glen Burnie, Md., and Rodney P. and Sheila B. Ferguson, Jr., Roanoke. They also have three grandchildren. They both retired in 1988 as owners and operators of Ferguson's Grocery, Roanoke, Va. Flowers Golden Anniversary 1946-1996
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Flowers celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, March 1, 1996. They were married in Bedford, Va. by Rev. Potts on March 1, 1946. They have one son and two daughters, Thomas Flowers, II, Sandra Whitlock, and Brenda Thomasson; six grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
Mr. Flowers served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and is a retired truck driver from Associated Transport. Mrs. Flowers has been employed by Printech, formerly Hammond's Printing, for 34 years.

Silas and Ina Noblett of Galax, Va., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the home of their sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hale in Christiansburg, Va. The reception was hosted by Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Sandy Roberts of Winston-Salem, N.C. They were married November 22, 1945 at Spring Valley, Va. in Grayson Co. by the Rev. David G. Moxley. Mr. Noblett is a Veteran of World War II, having served in the S.W. Pacific area, and is retired from Riegel Textile. Mrs. Noblett is the former Ina Edwards of Independence, Va. and is retired from Roses Dept. Stores. Mr. and Mrs. Noblett have resided in Galax for 50 years. Perdue anniversary
Beatrice M. and Garrett (Hoby) Perdue, Jr. celebrated their 50th anniversary February 10th, 1996. The celebration was held at Lancerlot Sports Complex on Feb. 10th. It was hosted by their children. Out-of-town guests attending the celebration were Philip and Joan Monfils, Columbia, S.C., and Carla Grossi, Florida. The couple were married February 23, 1946 at St. Patrick's Church, Valley Falls, Rhode Island. They have lived in Vinton for 27 years. She's the former Beatrice M. Monfils. Their children are, daughter Theresa Brackens, Roanoke, son Ernest, and Jeannie Perdue, Roanoke, son Charles, and Debbie Perdue, Goodview, daughter Rose Ann, and Al Grossi, Hudson, Florida, son Noel, and Kathy Perdue, Twenty-nine Palms, California, and son Leon, and Alison Perdue, Vinton. The have 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Hoby is retired from Hatcher Trucking and Bea is a homemaker. Bea and Hoby would like to thank everyone for making this celebration a truly special event. Tampasis anniversary
Athanasios and Maria Tampasis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, February 24, 1996. The celebration was held at The Greek Orthodox Church Hall hosted by their sons, Angelo, Sam and John, and daughters, Sue and Dianna.
They were married February 24, 1946 in Athens, Greece. The couple arrived in Roanoke from Greece on June 28, 1951 and have lived at 4001 Richlands Ave., N.W.
She's the former Maria Hasanis. They have three sons, Angelo of Decatur, Ill., Sam and John of Roanoke; and seven grandchildren.
He was owner-operator of The Atlantic Sandwich Stand in downtown Roanoke from 1951 until his retirement in 1985. Atlantic Sandwich Stand was founded in 1913. Ownership of the Atlantic Sandwich Stand was by the Tampasis family for over 50 years.
They are both members of Greek Orthodox Church. Mr. Tampasis is a member of Ahepa, UCT and Megdova. Mrs. Tampasis is a member of the Church Ladies Club since 1951, UCT and Megdova.
Out-of-town guests attending the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. Kostas Patronis of Atlanta, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. Kostas Paspalis of Silver Spring, Md.; and many others within Virginia.
Special guests were The Honorable State Senator John Edwards and Mrs. Edwards.
The Mayor's office issued a proclamation declaring February 24, 1996 as Athanasios and Maria Tampasis Day in the City of Roanoke in recognition of fifty years of marriage.
Frank Roupas read the proclamation for Mayor David Bowers at the reception and presented the couple with a Crystal Star compliments from the City of Roanoke. A congratulatory card was read from President and Mrs. Clinton.
