Radford University will play host to the Big South Conference women's basketball tournament March 7-9 at the Dedmon Center with an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
UNC Greensboro is the top seed (Pairings in Scoreboard, B3). Defending tournament champion Radford plays seventh seeded UNC Asheville in the opening round at 8 p.m.
In other sports news:
* Tickets for the NCAA Division III men's basketball sectional to be held Friday and Saturday at Roanoke College's Bast Center are on sale at the school's athletic office. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for senior citizens and students. There will be two games each day at 6 and 8 p.m.
* Four members of the VMI wrestling team have been named to the All-Southern Conference wrestling team.
Juniors Adam Mickiewicz (134 pounds), Jason Foresman (142), Reese Edgington (150) were each selected. Freshman Leslie Apedoe joined them and was named freshman of the year.
* Washington and Lee senior Matt Ermigiotti pitched six innings, allowing just two earned runs, and had two RBI at the plate as the Generals beat West Virginia Tech 9-6 in Lexington.
* Kelly Dampeer's 3-run homer helped Radford notch an 11-3 victory as the Highlanders split a doubleheader with East Carolina Sunday in Kinston, N.C. ECU won the first game 4-3.
