POET TO HOLD READING

Poet Nikki Giovanni will read and sign her new book "The Selected Poems of Nikki Giovanni" Wednesday, March 20 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Volume Two Bookstore.

Giovanni, professor of English at Virginia Tech, has been a celebrated author since the 1960's when her poems first emerged from the Black Rights Movement.

She was named woman of the year by "Mademoiselle," "Ladies Home Journal," and "Essence" magazine and she holds 13 honorary doctorate degrees. Giovanni is the author of 12 other books of poetry, including "Black Feeling" and "The Woman and the Men."
