A Michigan trucker was injured early Tuesday when he apparently lost control of his tractor-trailer and it overturned on an exit ramp in Bedford.
David Eugene Lehmkuhl, 37, of Fennville, Mich., was listed in stable condition Tuesday afternoon in intensive care at Bedford County Memorial Hospital.
The truck overturned about 12:45 a.m. because, according to Police Chief Milton Graham, Lehmkuhl apparently was driving too fast on U.S. 460 west to negotiate the curved ramp onto Blue Ridge Avenue. He was charged with reckless driving.
Damage to the truck, which was owned by Clanton Brothers Trucking Co. of Clanton, Ala., was estimated at $60,000. No information was available about what cargo Lehmkuhl was hauling.
