BLACKSBURG - WTOB Channel 2 invites you to experience local art on its new quarterly program "Avant Garde," a show that highlights current information about music, theater, film, literature and art in Blacksburg and the surrounding areas.
The show premieres Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Booth Communications Cable Channel 2.
Anniversary party
BLACKSBURG - WTOB Channel 2 is celebrating its 10 year anniversary with an open party on March 15 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the studio, located in the Five Chimney's Building on the corner of Washington St. and Draper St., directly behind the Blacksburg Municipal Building.
WTOB is a 24-hour public and government access television station that airs everything from local announcements to sports programs, concerts, documentaries, children's programming and more. The station also provides television production training for anyone over 18 years of age who is interested in producing their own television program.
Educators to meet
BLACKSBURG - The Alpha Lambda Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a society of women educators, will meet Saturday at Kipps Elementary School on Prices Fork Road at 10 a.m.
Elementary teacher Peggy Greg, chairperson, will host the meeting.
Members are reminded to bring magazines for the service project.

Poetry workshop
ATHENS, W. VA - Concord College is seeking entrants for a free poetry workshop to be held April 4.
Appalachian writer and poet Jim Wayne Miller will conduct the workshop in conjunction with Concord's first annual Louise McNeill Pease Memorial Reading.

SALEM - The Virginia Skyline Girl Scouts are celebrating the 84th birthday of Girl Scouting with the second annual Girl Scouts' Be Your Best Day on Tuesday. The scouts are asking everyone to pledge to be their best to recognize the day by doing anything helpful to themselves or others.

Crop insurance
CHRISTIANSBURG - The Montgomery County Farm Service Agency will have a special crop insurance meeting on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 7 N. Franklin Street.
The deadline to purchase crop insurance for corn is March 15. Terry Altizer of the Montgomery Farm Service Agency will be available at this time to answer questions and complete applications.
