The Pulaski County School Board is expected to consider Thursday whether a Newbern Elementary School pupil should be expelled for bringing a BB gun and knife onto school property.
The student is under suspension while the incident, which happened last week, is under investigation. The results will be presented to the board.
The board adopted a policy last year which included a 365-day expulsion of students who bring weapons onto school property, and that penalty already has been imposed several times during the 1995-96 school year.
In the other cases, real firearms were involved. But, under the policy, a BB gun is also considered to be a dangerous weapon.
