Leading women to be honored
The New Century Women's Leadership Award, a new citation that grew out of the New Century Council's recommendation that area communities do more to recognize leaders, will be given at an April 24 banquet at Hollins College, the program's sponsors said Friday.
A group of professional women put the program together, with help from Hollins College, the Blue Ridge Regional Business Journal, Crestar Bank, Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore and the Regional Chamber Small Business Development Center in Roanoke, formerly the Blue Ridge Small Business Develoment Center.
The achievement award is to honor an outstanding woman who lives in the Roanoke or New River valleys or Alleghany Highlands.
Nominations must be received by March 22 at Box 386, Roanoke 24403. For nomination forms or information, call Cynthia Dillon, 344-8958.
