America Online announced two major alliances Monday, with AT&T and Netscape Communications, that were intended to help the world's largest on-line information service take fuller advantage of the Internet's growing popularity.
AOL said it would offer the news services, discussion groups and informational material from its own on-line service to customers of AT&T's new Worldnet Internet access service at an unspecified discount.
AOL also said it would provide Netscape's popular Navigator software to its more than 5 million subscribers. This means subscribers who choose to use America Online's Internet access service will now have the option of receiving Navigator - the most popular software for browsing the Internet's World Wide Web.
AT&T's Worldnet Internet access service, announced two weeks ago, also is based on Netscape software.
