'Growing Up Brady'

Barry Williams, also known as Greg Brady from ``The Brady Bunch'' will present ``Growing Up Brady: I Was a Teen-Age Greg'' Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Radford University's Heth Student Center Ballroom.

A question-and-answer session will follow the multimedia lecture. Tickets are $3. Call 831-5324.

Bedford wellness fair

The Bedford Primary School PTA is holding a wellness fair Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the school. Participants can learn about healthy junk foods and household hazards. Representatives from several local organizations will present displays. There will entertainment for children.

Kandinsky Trio

The Kandinsky Trio will present ``Connecting Musical Styles: The Baroque to the Classical'' Tuesday and ``Further Connections: The Romantic to the Post-Modern'' March 26. The interdisciplinary lectures and demonstrations will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Olin Recital Hall at Roanoke College.

The Tuesday presentation will feature the music of Bach, Vivaldi, Haydn and Beethoven. The March program will include music by Beethoven, Brahms, Turina and Persichetti. Call 375-2333, Monday-Friday, 2-5 p.m.

Genealogists meet

The Southwestern Virginia Genealogical Society will meet Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Brody Room of the Roanoke City Library on South Jefferson Street.

John Cosgriff will speak on ``Using LDS and Online Sources'' and Carolyn Cosgriff will speak on ``Eco-Genealogy: Examining the Forest in Which Your Family Tree Resides.'' The meeting is free. Call 977-0067.

Art lecture Tuesday

Professor of art Nancy Dahlstrom will lecture on her exhibit, ``Fuzei: A Breeze of Feeling,'' Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Hollins College Art Gallery.

The exhibit, which will be on display from Tuesday through April 10, was recently shown at the University Art Museum of the University of Queensland in Australia. Call 362-6451.

Musical auditions

Auditions for ``West Side Story,'' to be performed at the Lynchburg Fine Arts Center in May, will be held Wednesday and March 21 at 7 p.m.

Roles are available for 40 gang members and four adults. Non-singing and non-dancing roles are available.

All ages from pre-teens and older will be considered.

Women will audition from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and men from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Everyone will be asked to read, sing and dance.

Auditions will be held in the rehearsal hall at the arts center, 1815 Thomson Road. Call (804) 846-8451.

Journalist to speak

Mary Alice Williams, former NBC news anchor and co-founder of CNN, will speak on women in business March 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Lynchburg College's Hall Campus Center Ballroom.

Transportation tour

The Virginia Museum of Transportation will sponsor an all-day bus tour, ``Railroad Heritage in the New River Valley,'' on March 23.

Participants will visit historic Norfolk & Western sites, including passenger stations, bridges and depots.

The tour will begin at the Roanoke museum at 10 a.m. and return at 4 p.m.

The $20 cost includes a box lunch. Call 342-5670.

OM competition

The Roanoke Regional Odyssey of the Mind competition will be held March 23 at Northside High and Middle Schools from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

More than 900 students from the Roanoke area will present their solutions to such problems as writing and performing an original tall tale, designing an invention to help the handicapped, creating poetry and works of art and building weight-bearing balsa structures.

The seven-member teams will compete for a chance to go to the state finals at Radford University April 27, then to the world finals in Iowa in May.

The free event is open to the public.

Poetry reading

Poet Katherine Soniat will give a poetry reading at 7:30 p.m. April 11 in Roanoke College's Sutton Student Center Glass Lounge.

Soniat is the author of four books of poetry and has received several awards. She is an associate professor of English at Virginia Tech. Call 375-2282.
