PURSE-SNATCHER LEAVES WALLET, KEEPS CASH

A woman reported that a man snatched her purse as she left her Northwest Roanoke house early Tuesday. The purse contained $700.

Police gave this account:

About 5:35, Sandra Faye Callaway of the 3700 block of Troutland Avenue was leaving her home to go to work. A man jumped from behind a bush, grabbed her pocketbook and fled on foot.

Officers found Callaway's wallet and keys near her house but didn't find the $700.
