George Mason University's board of visitors chose a Cornell University dean as its next president Tuesday.
Alan G. Merten, dean of Cornell's Graduate School of Management, will succeed George W. Johnson. Johnson will retire June 30.
Merten, 54, has worked at Cornell since 1989. He also is a professor of information systems. Previously he was a business school dean at the University of Florida.
