AVALANCHE IS IN A PARTYING MOOD

THE BASEBALL CLUB invites the public to a get-together at Memorial Stadium.

The Salem Avalanche announced Tuesday that individual game tickets, including those for Opening Day, for the 1996 season will go on sale Saturday at 9 a.m. when the baseball club holds its Kickoff Party at Memorial Stadium.

To date, the club has sold only season ticket packages. The Kickoff Party celebration and sale, lasting until 4 p.m., will include tours of the new stadium, ``Speedpitch'' radar gun clockings of fans' pitches, and batting practice for the public on the field from noon until 2 p.m.

Food and beverages will be served and fans attending the party will have the opportunity to win various prizes, including season tickets or a game rental of a stadium skybox. New Avalanche souvenirs and merchandise also will be on sale.

Individual box seats sell for $6, with reserved seats $5 and general admission $4. The Avalanche ticket office will resume regular hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) starting Monday at Memorial Stadium, and will be open weekdays. Tickets also may be ordered by phoning the club office (389-3333).

The baseball club also is accepting tapes of those interesting in singing the national anthem before home games. Those interested should send tapes to Colleen Brown, the club's director of community relations, at P.O. Box 842, Salem, 24153.
