Donations needed

PULASKI - Donations are needed for Pulaski's Community Yard and Bake Sale to be hled May 2 through May 4. Furniture, books, household items, crafts and clothes (clean and in good condition) will be accepted Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon at the former People's Drug Store near Wade's in the Maple Shade Mall.

Baked items and donations will be accepted on the morning of sale days.

Volunteers needed

CHRISTIANSBURG - The Montgomery County Improvement Council's annual Broomin' and Bloomin' Cleanup wiill take place on Saturday, April 20, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers are needed to clean up illegal dump sites, roadsides and waterways to improve our community's environment.

In 1995, over 4,000 volunteers collected more than 383,000 pounds of litter. Five riverbanks, 15 school sites, 17 illegal dumps and 180 miles of roadside were cleaned. Volunteers also planted 1,600 trees to promote reforestation and wildlife habitat development.

Volunteers will receive a Broomin' and Bloomin' T-shirt and will be treated to a picnic with live music and door prizes following the cleanup.
