Firefighters from the Pulaski County Volunteer Fire Department out of Dublin and the Poplar Hill Fire Department out of Giles County brought a forest fire on Cloyds Mountain under control Wednesday. But first they had to do some climbing.
The fire - on the Pulaski County side of the ridge - burned about a half-acre on the north side of Virginia 100 before firefighters reached it and put it out. There were no roads to the fire site and, one Dublin fireman said, at times it seemed the firefighters were crawling straight up to get there.
