ARMY PVT. CHAD E. DICKERSON, son of Donna M. Richardson of Virginia Beach and Dennis W. Dickerson of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at Fort Leonard E. Wood in Waynesville, Mo. He is a 1995 graduate of Kellam High School in Virginia Beach.

AIRMAN DAVID M. HUDDLESTON, son of Charles M. Huddleston of Vinton and Rebecca R. Huddleston of Glade Hill, recently completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

ARMY PFC. JEFFREY A. CARTER has completed basic training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Carter is the son of William J. and Kathy Carter of Roanoke.

ARMY PVT. DANE E. CRULL, son of George W. Crull of Vinton, completed basic training at Fort Leonard E. Wood in Waynesville, Mo.

ARMY PVT. MICHAEL S. GOOLSBY, son of Lovie J. and James M. Cook of Roanoke, completed basic training at Fort Leonard E. Wood in Waynesville, Mo.

NAVY HOSPITALMAN RECRUIT WILLIAM H. O'NEAL, son of Myrna A. O'Neal of Roanoke, recently graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, Ill.

He joined the Navy in June 1995.

NAVY SEAMAN APPRENTICE ASIA Y. MUHAMMAD, daughter of Francine A. Muhammad of Roanoke, recently graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, Ill.

SENIOR AIRMAN ERIC D. NICHOLS, son of Christine L. Nichols of Vinton and Jeffrey M. Nichols of Lincolnton, N.C. has been decorated with the Air Force Achievement Medal for meritorious service, acts of courage, or other outstanding accomplishments.

MARINE PVT. BRIAN D. HOGAN, son of Joe W. Hogan of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

AIRMAN BRANDON R. CORNETT, son of James P. Cornett and Joyce L. Cornett both of Roanoke, recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Cornett is a 1991 graduate of Cave Spring High School and a graduate of Virginia Military Institute.

CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER RAYMOND A. PERDUE SR. retired Feb. 1 after serving 22 years in the Coast Guard.

Perdue, the son of Carl L. Perdue of Sandston and Elizabeth A. Collier of Roanoke, has a son, Eric in his first year at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, Conn.

SEAMAN RECRUIT CHARLES D. BARNS, son of Charles F. and Pamela G. Barns of Vinton, recently completed basic training at Great Lakes, Ill.

Barns is a 1995 graduate of Staunton River High School.

SGT. RICKY L. HOSTUTLER has received the Army Achievement Medal for meritorious service, acts of courage, or other outstanding accomplishments.

Hostutler, the son of Raymond L. Hostutler of Roanoke, is stationed in Bamberg, Germany.

SENIOR AIRMAN ERIC D. NICHOLS, a ground radio communications specialist at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi, has been awarded the Good Conduct Medal.

Nichols is the son of Christine L. Nichols of Vinton.

FREDRICK ALDRIDGE, has been promoted to the rank of Air Force first lieutenant. Aldridge, son of Richard O. and Margaret E. Aldridge of Salem, is stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana.

BRIAN S. ELLIS , son of Anna L. and E. Wayne Ellis of Roanoke, has been promoted to Air Force staff sergeant. He is a quality assurance inspector at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

JEAN E. HAVENS, daughter of George N. and Vicki J. Havens of Roanoke, has been awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal. Havens, serving at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, received the medal for meritorious service, courage and other outstanding accomplishments.

PFC. ZACHARY S. CROWDER, son of Michael J. and Linda H. Crowder of Roanoke, has reported for duty at the Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C. Crowder is a 1994 graduate of William Byrd High School.

AIRMAN 1ST CLASS GREGORY S. HASTON, son of Larry P. Haston of Troutville, has been deployed to Rhein-Main Air Base in Germany as part of the NATO peacekeeping effort in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

SEAMAN RECRUIT JOHN E. BURROWS, son of Susan D. and John E. Burrows of Roanoke, has completed recruit training at Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 1994 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.

SEAMAN APPRENTICE PAUL S. DEYERLE, son of James F. Deyerle of Salem, recently completed recruit training at Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 1994 graduate of Salem High School.

PVT. ZACHARY H. PETERS, son of Robert L. and Charlsie J. Peters of New Castle, recently completed basic training at Parris Island, S.C. He is a 1995 graduate of Craig County High School.

SEAMAN RECRUIT WILLIAM J. LAFERTY, a 1992 graduate of William Byrd High School, recently completed basic training at Great Lakes, Ill.
