ROBERTA McGUIRE of Salem has received the Grumbacher Award for outstanding achievement in acrylic painting.
McGuire, a member of the League of Roanoke Artists, won with her painting "Another View," an abstract representing the dichotomy of chaos and order in life.
Grumbacher manufactures artists' materials.
VIC PLOTNER is the new president of Parents Without Partners, Blue Ridge Chapter. WELDON T. LAWRENCE has been elected president of the Virginia Museum of Transportation Inc. He succeeds James B. Evans. Other recently elected officers include: Mark T. Elliott Jr., treasurer; Thomas A. Leggette, secretary.
Gerald W. Godsey, Maryellen F. Goodlatte, J. Granger Macfarlane, James W. Harkness, W.L. Neal, John W. Hancock Jr., W.G. Blades, Jim Molinary, L.A. Durham Jr., Samuel W. Putney III, and Richard Shell were elected to the board of directors.
