MASSIE, Ethel A., 102, of Roanoke, died Wednesday evening, March 13, 1996. She was the widow of Dr. U. W. Massie. Surviving are her son, Walter Massie, Marion; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday from South Roanoke United Methodist Church with Dr. Donald H. Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, where the family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.
McCOLLUM, Loretta, 41, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, March 11, 1996. Funeral services 2 p.m. Friday at Hamlar-Curtis Chapel.
OVERBEY, Mary R. Coleman, 87, of Roanoke, died Thursday, March 14, 1996, in a local nursing home. She was the widow of Landon Overbey, and a retired C & P telephone operator. Surviving are two sisters, Betty C. Stump, Roanoke, and Catherine C. Frith, Rocky Mount; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be noon Saturday at the graveside, Evergreen Burial Park, with the Rev. Frank W. Feather officiating. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

REID, E. Malcom, (``Mack''), 80, of Rt. 3, Lexington, died Thursday, Marc h 14, 1996, at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born January 13, 1916, in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Harry Feltner Reid and Ola Duncan Reid. He was a member and past Elder in Oxford Presbyterian Church. Mr. Reid was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Shirley Sorrell Reid. Surviving are two daughters, Maxine G. Reid, Lexington, Delores Smith Seal, Covington; one sister, Virginia Rawley, Mt. Solon; three brothers, Robert Reid, Roanoke, Elwood Reid, Brookville, Fla., Fred Reid, Culpeper; three grandchildren, Robert Seal, Jason Seal, and Barbara Seal, all of Covington. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 16, 1996, at 2 p.m. from Rapps Mill Church with the Rev. Barton Hellmuth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family suggests that memorial gifts be made to Rapps Sunday School, Rt. 3, Box 246, Lexington, Va. 24450, or the Lexington Life Saving Crew. ROBERSON, Joel Frank, 83, died Thursday, March 14, 1996, at his home in the Kesington Apts., Friendship Manor, in Roanoke. Born in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Joel Branch and Roberta Farrer Roberson. He graduated from E. C. Glass High School in 1930, in Lynchburg, and attended Grinnell College in Iowa, where he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army of the United States. He was honorably discharged from the Army as a Captain. Mr. Roberson was employed by the United States Government in Washington, D.C., and retired after 35 years of meritorious service. His survivors include three nieces, Miss Norma E. Cox of Christiansburg, Mrs. Roberta McDermott Johnson of Lynchburg, Mrs. Peggy Hinz of Fort Worth, Texas; and three additional nieces and three nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Spring Hill Cemetery, Lynchburg, by the Rev. Cecil Hedgepeth. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at Whitten Park Ave. Chapel, 1336 Park Ave., Lynchburg.

Mrs. Rose attended schools in Roanoke and graduated from Jefferson High School. She was a graduate of Brenau College. STAMUS, Anthony Paul, (``Tony""), 40, of Atlanta, Ga., formerly of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 1996. He was a 1973 graduate of Northside High School, and attended Virginia Western Community College. Tony worked at The Roanoke Times for 22 years and the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle for 2 years before moving to Atlanta last August to work for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, where he served for many years on the Board of Trustees, as a member of the choir, and as a Chanter. He was also a member of the Order of the A.H.E.P.A. Surviving are his mom and dad, Victoria and Peter Stamus, Roanoke; brother, Mike Stamus, Atlanta; sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Steve Peters, Salem; grandmother, Maria Manolas, Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Huntington Blvd., N.E., Roanoke, Va. 24012. THOMPSON, Kenneth K., 55, of 390 Le Viva Dr. , Reidsville, N.C., died Wednesday evening, March 13, 1996, in Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Botetourt and was employed with Starr Electric as an electrician. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Emmet and Annie Shively Thompson; his brothers, Keith and Harvey; and sister, Dorothy. He is survived by his wife, Brenda B. Thompson of the home; son, Kenneth Kyle Thompson Jr. and wife, Debbie, Rocky Mount; daughter, Kenya Ann Thompson and Mike, Reidsville; stepsons, Keith Harrison and wife, Beverly, Mayodan, Kevin Harrison and Angie, Kernersville; stepdaughter, Kimberly Paschal and husband, John, Concord; eleven grandchildren; brother, Earl Thompson, Danville; sisters, Louise Eames, Rocky Mount, Hazel Weddington, Rocky Mount, Corrine Anderson, Danville; nieces and nephews; and many special friends. WOOD, Sara Ellen, (""Sadie""), 90, of Roanoke County, passed away Thursday, March 14, 1996. She was a charter member of the First Evangelical Methodist Church of Salem. She worked for many years as a legal secretary in Salem. She was the daughter of the late John Edward and V irginia Ellen Goodwin Wood. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Mary G. (""Sandy"") and Jerry N. Cooper, Barbara J. and Robert J. (""Jugie"") Goodwin, Louise W. Manning, Frank W. and Geraldine O. Wood; numerous great nieces and nephews, including Len Cooper and wife, Lori, Diane Cooper, and Matt Cooper.
