MONTGOMERY GOP ELECTS CHAIR

Montgomery County Republicans elected Dave Nutter as county chairman at their mass meeting Saturday.

Nutter, associate director of university relations at Virginia Tech, was first appointed to the post last April to fill the remaining year of Pat Cupp's two-year term.

Cupp resigned to launch his ultimately unsuccessful run for the state Senate seat held by Madison Marye, D-Shawsville.

Nutter was elected to a full two-year term. Other county Republican officers will be selected at an April 20 county GOP meeting, Nutter said. Also Saturday, county Republicans elected delegates to the May 11 9th District convention in Wytheville and the May 31-June 1 state party convention in Salem.
