A Greenbrier County family has reached a tentative settlement in a lawsuit against a former Virginia beauty queen who was convicted of attacking them, but terms of the deal remain confidential.
Paul Clay Jr. said Monday that his client, Tracy Lippard, has agreed to settle with Rodney Weikle, who sued her after being injured in the February 1994 attack. Lippard in turn will drop a lawsuit against Todd Scott, her former boyfriend and Weikle's son-in-law, Clay said.
Weikle, in his suit, claimed the attack caused him physical and mental problems. Lippard's suit against Scott claimed he deceived her and obtained carnal knowledge of her through false affection.
Lippard was convicted in November 1994 of two counts of second-degree attempted murder and five misdemeanors stemming from the attack on Weikle, his wife, Carlynn, and their daughter, Melissa, who has since married Scott.
Lippard, 24, was sentenced to two years in jail. She entered Southern Regional Jail in Beckley in September and is scheduled for release next month due to a sentence modification and credit for ``good time.''
