BOWER, Carolyn Agee, 45, of Radford, passed away Sunday, March 17, 1996. She was born in Radford on November 30, 1950. Surviving are her parents, M. Franklin and Ruth Talbert Agee, Radford; one daughter, Erin Elizabeth Bower, Christiansburg; a brother, Murray Franklin Agee Jr., Dublin; niece and nephew, Chris tina Elaine and Brian Scott Agee, Dublin; and two very special friends, Elizabeth Sandidge, Radford, and Clyde Carter, Daleville. CALVERT, Doris Doughton Bangle, 78, of Alexandri a, died Friday, March 15, 1996, at her residence. She was born in Rocky Mount to the late John Robert and Nannie L. Lynch Doughton. She was a graduate of Rocky Mount High School, and attended Ferrum College and Bridgewater College. In 1942, she married the Rev. Walter Bangle, who pastored West End United Methodist Church in Roanoke and other churches in Virginia. Walter Bangle died in 1972. She married the Rev. Delford Calvert in 1977, and they lived in Alexandria until their deaths. Mrs. Calvert is survived by a niece, Carole D. Mayberry of Roanoke; a sister-in-law, Mamie Doughton of Rocky Mount; a great-niece, Elizabeth Morris of Durham, N.C., and three stepchildren and their families. Funeral services will be held at Washington Street United Methodist Church in Alexandria at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 20. Interment will be in Maury Cemetery, Richmond. FEAZELL, Teddy Vance, (``Ted''), 48, of Nashville, Tenn., died of heart failure Sunday, March 17, 1996, at Vanderbilt Hospital's Cardiac Care Unit in Nashville, Tenn. Born in Lexington on March 15, 1948, he was the son of Lucille Overstreet Feazell of Buena Vista, and the late C. Vance Feazell. Mr. Feazell enjoyed a distinguished career in the country music business as a tour director and management representative for artists, Sylvia, Kathy Mattea and Brooks & Dunn. He retired from the management firm of Titley & Associates in 1994 due to declining health. He was a member of the Country Music Association, The Academy of Country Music and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Prior to moving to Nashville, Mr. Feazell worked as a sports announcer and radio disc jockey in Lexington. He attended Frederick College in Portsmouth, and Virginia Western College in Roanoke. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 22, at the Buena Vista Baptist Church in Buena Vista, with the Rev. Dr. Chip Pendleton officiating. Friends will be received at Lomax Funeral Home in Buena Vista from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 21. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. HEIZER, Emma Thorn Borthwick, 89, wife of A. Campbell Heizer, of 532 Torry Lane, Stuarts Draft, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday, March 18, 1996 in the Avante of Waynesboro. She was born on April 19, 1906, in Plant City, Fla., a daughter of the late Rev. Henry Richardson and Carrie Thorn Borthwick. Mr. and Mrs. Heizer were united in marriage on July 17, 1931. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. She was also a former member of Augusta Tuesday Club and D.A.R. in Wytheville. In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Thomas ``Betty' Alderson of Beech Mountain, N.C., and Mrs. Stahli ``Eugenia'' Redard of Rt. 1, Greenville; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 1996, in the Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Roy W. Howard. HURST, Harless G., 86, of Hillsville, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 1996, at his home. He was born September 17, 1909, in Carroll County, a son of the late Clark and Rose Quesenberry Hurst. Mr. Hurst was a journeyman leadburner for 35 years, then retired to his farm in Carroll County. He is survived by his wife, Arlie Shockley Hurst of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Shirley Hurst of Hillsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Nelson Quesenberry of Pulaski; three sisters, Louise Odell, Alma Holland and Faye Slusher of Dublin; four grandsons, David Nelson Quesenberry of Terre Haute, Ind., Wesley Glenn Hurst of Hillsville, George Michael Quesenberry of Livingston, Mont., and Mark Wayne Quesenberry of Normal, Ill., and three great-grandchildren, Kacie Quesenberry and Daniel Quesenberry of Livingston, Mont., and Holly Lauren Hurst of Hillsville. KEMP, Evelyn Childress, was born September 8, 1916 to the late Rev. and Mrs. R. W. Childress Sr. in Patrick County. She died Monday, March 18, 1996 in Waddell Nursing Home, Galax, Va. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Pearl and Gary M. Bowman, Hillsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Flora Kemp, Floyd; one sister, Marie C. Lucas, Willis; five brothers, Rev. Bryan Childress, Willis, Conduff Childress, Hillsville, Paul Childress, Hillsville, Rev. William Childress, Tellico Plains, Tenn., Rev. Robert Childress, Meadows of Dan; three grandsons, Gary M. Bowman II, Laurel Fork, Staff Sgt. Clarence Ray Bowman of North Dakota and Jeffrey Kemp, Atlanta, Ga.; one granddaughter, Amy Kemp, Floyd; one great-granddaughter, Jessica Nichole Bowman, Hillsville; two nieces and eight nephews. Mrs. Kemp was a retired, dedicated school teacher, having taught in Carroll County 37 1/2 years. She was an active, faithful member of Buffalo Mtn. Presbyterian Church until she lost her eye sight to glaucoma five years ago. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 21,1996, at 11 a.m. in the Buffalo Mountain Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. James Carpenter and the Rev. Gary Marshall officiating. Her body will lie in state one hour in the church before the service. There will be no viewing at the funeral home. KRAUSE, Rev. Charles Willard, 77, of Roanoke, went home to be with his Lord, Tuesday, March 19, 1996. He was a former Baptist minister and educator in Virginia. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn A. Krause. Surviving are his wife, Marceline A. Krause; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Allen and Frances Krause; stepson and daughter-in-law, Mike and Terry Lester; and stepdaughter, Linda Barrett. He has three grandchildren, Will, Robert and Natalie Krause; and two stepgrandchildren, Billy and Sam Barrett. He is also survived by five sisters who live out of town. Born November 24 , 1913, in Lee County, he was the son of the late Rufus and Sarah Smith Rogers. Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by one sister, Edith Rogers. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Hatmaker Rogers; one son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Willie Rogers of Roanoke; two daughters and son-in law, Patricia and Bob Lanningham of Mt. ROWE, James Richard Jr., (``Dick""), 81, of Wytheville, died Monday, March 18, 1996, from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born in Wythe County, the son of the late James Richard Rowe Sr. and Laura Ward Rowe. He was a graduate of Hiwassee College and attended Virginia Tech, a retired Clerk of the Wythe County School Board and a U. S. Navy Pilot and veteran of World War II. He was a past Master of the Wytheville Masonic Lodge No. 82 A.F. & A.M., past District Deputy Grand Master, past High Priest of Wythe Royal Arch Chapter No. 51, past Commander of Lynn Commandry No. 9, a member of the Scottish Rite and Roanoke Kazim Shrine Temple and past Patron of Evansham Chapter No. 97, Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Rowe was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School and was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin F. Rowe and a brother-in-law, Francis Oglesby. He is survived by his wife, Marian Ulmer Rowe, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Ralph Julian McHone, Kernersville, N.C., Patricia and Thomas Sawyers, Penhook; one son, James Richard Rowe III, Dublin; one sister, Susie Rowe Oglesby, Draper; one brother and two sisters-in-law, John H. and Margaret Owen Rowe, Roanoke, Emily Umberger Rowe, Crockett; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nine nieces and nephews also survive. TANNER, Gladys Nicholas, 80, of Natural Bridge, died Monday, March 18, 1 996, at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born in West Virginia, August 19, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Otto Nicholas and Emma Jean Ellis Nicholas. Mrs. Tanner was a member of Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship, and had worked as a sales clerk at Natural Bridge Gift Shop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Tanner.
