Nine young women will try to sing, dance and even clog their way to the title of Miss New River Valley in tonight's ninth annual scholarship pageant to be held in the Christiansburg High School Auditorium at 7:30.
A panel of five judges will evaluate the contestants in four areas: swimsuit, evening gown, talent and private interview.
Steve Holstein of radio station WPSK-FM will serve as master of ceremonies.
Karen McNew, a Virginia Tech senior, will relinquish her crown to one of the following nine contestants at the close of the ceremonies:
Rebecca Rebmann, 19, a junior at Tech who will perform a lyrical dance in the talent competition.
Teresa Lynn Thompson, 22, a Radford University senior who will sing.
Sabrina Ann Price, 17, a senior at Christiansburg High School who will perform a ballet dance.
Brandy Marie Burnette, a 19-year-old sophomore from Emory & Henry College who will sing.
Jodi Skurupey, 22, who attends New River Community College and will clog.
Courtney Kiehl, 20, a Tech sophomore, who will sing.
Sara Jayne Quillin, 19, a sophomore at Hollins College who will perform a classical jazz dance.
Nicole Latreace Johnson, 19, a Hollins College sophomore who also will sing.
Erin Davis-Parker, a 19-year-old graduate of Christiansburg High School, who will clog.
