Montgomery Regional adds doctors to staff
BLACKSBURG - Six Radford pediatricians who practice together in Child-Adolescent Health Associates have joined the staff of Columbia Montgomery Regional Hospital.
William H. Cook has practiced pediatrics in Radford for 28 years. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed an internship in pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His residencies were at UNC and the University of Virginia.
Glenn C. Hall Jr. has been a pediatrician in Radford since 1945. He received his medical degree and completed a rotating internship and residency program at the University of Virginia.
Linda R. Marshall received her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed an internship at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. She completed a residency at the Medical Center of Delaware in Newark.
Florence H. Mogen received her medical degree from the University of Virginia. She completed internships and residencies at the Bowman-Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University and at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
Robert F. Stickley received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed internship and residency programs at the University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital and at the University of Virginia.
Timothy S. Walker received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia and completed internship and residency programs at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Other doctors who have joined the hospital's staff are:
Minh-Chau Dang, who received her medical degree from the University of Virginia. She completed a transitional internship at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and a residency at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. She is a board-certified anesthesiologist.
M. Joan Frost received her medical degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and completed internship and residency programs at Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Reading, Pa. She is a board-certified family practice doctor.
Linda C. Morrow, received her medical degree from the University of Washington in Seattle and completed her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Rochester General Hospital and Strong Memorial Hospital at the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y. She is board certified in obstretrics and gynecololgy.
Franklin T. Thom received his medical degree from the Uniformed Service University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., and completed his internship and residency at the Charleston Naval Hospital in Charleston, S.C. He is a board-certified family practice doctor.
Christiansburg native wins Corning award
CHRISTIANSBURG - Christiansburg native Don. W. Steele, who formerly worked at Corning's Blacksburg plant, has been awarded the company's A&T Distinguished Associate Award.
The award was one of only nine given this year. It was based on performance, contributions to the success of the company and demonstrated commitment and leadership in his area of expertise.
Steele worked at the Blacksburg plant from 1967 to the early 1970s. He has been at the company's Wilmington, N.C., plant for the past 22 years.
Pulaski County native joins Acrylife Inc.
Danny J. Hayes, a Pulaski County native who has pioneered new roofing technologies over the past 15 years, has joined Acrylife Inc. of Wytheville as its new executive vice president.
He succeeds Alan Hawthorne, who will pursue a new career in management consulting but continue to work with Acrylife during the transition.
Acrylife is a manufacturer and installer of a type of liquid-applied roofing systems that extend the life of various types of other roofs.
Chuck Johnson, Acrylife president, said Hayes "brings a wealth of technical and marketing expertise that will strengthen our marketing position throughout the southeastern United States." Hayes formerly was a sales and services manager at West Point Pepperell, manufacturer of BondCote single-ply membrane roofs, and vice president of operations for Seal-Dry USA, a manufacturer of single-ply roofing.
First National names Riner Advisory Council
CHRISTIANSBURG - First National Bank has named a Riner Advisory Council to serve as the bank's liaison to the community and to provide advice.
Serving on the board are:
Les C. Pugh, a former technical manager at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. A Floyd County native and Virginia Tech graduate, Pugh is active in New River Valley Hospice and is a member and lay leader of Mount Elbert United Methodist Church.
Thomas L. Bibb is president of Maple Lawn Veterinary Service. He is a member of the Christiansburg Lions Club and is an elder in Radford Presbyterian Church. Bibb holds degrees from Virginia Tech and Ohio State University.
Diana L. Wimmer, secretary/treasurer of Wimmer Real Estate in Floyd, is active in Havens Chapel United Methodist Church where she is secretary of the administrative board and a Sunday school teacher.
John Michael Turman is president of Turman Lumber Company. He lives in the Willis area of Floyd County and is a graduate of Clinch Valley College.
Gene "Bull" Teel, is a partner in L&G Circle T Farms. He serves on the local advisory board of Southern States Inc. and is a member of Radford Church of Christ. He is a Riner native.
Wendell G. Peters is clerk of the court for Floyd County. He is a graduate of National Business College and is a member of Floyd Baptist Church and the local Moose lodge.
Robert Mitchell is a farmer and livestock dealer who is a native of the Alum Ridge community and a member of Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren.
Robert K. Miller is principal of Auburn High School. He is active in a number of civic organizations, including the Christiansburg-Blacksburg Rotary Club. He serves on the board of Columbia Montgomery Regional Hospital and is a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Blacksburg.
