ANDERSON, Charman Vaught, 81, of Sugar Grove, died Saturday, March 23, 1996 in the Cedar Lawn Convalescent Home in Abingdon, Va. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, Fred C. Anderson, and a brother, Sidney Dace Vaught. She was a member of the Wharf Hill United Methodist Church in Sugar Grove, Va. She is survived by one son, Charles Leon Anderson, Sugar Grove; one daughter, Mary Groseclose, Bayhalia, Mississippi; one brother and sister-in-law, Wallace and Eva Vaught, Manassas; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 25, 1996, at 2 p.m. at the Wharf Hill United Methodist Church in Sugar Grove, Va., with the Rev. Thomas Martin and the Rev. Kenny Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridge Lawn Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service. Sh e was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Gene Chrisley, and a sister, Martha French. CREASY, Samuel Buford, 99, of Bedford, died Saturday, March 23, 1996, at the V. A. Medical Center in Salem. He was born April 12, 1896, in Bedford County, son of the late Samuel Henry Benjamin Creasy and Elza Morgan Overstreet Creasy. Married twice, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ariadne Witheron Creasy, and his second wife, Vernie Skinell Creasy. He was a retired farmer, a member of Mt. Olivet Southern Baptist Church, a U. S. Army veteran of World War I and a graduate of Dunsmore Business School. He is survived by his son, Samuel B. Creasy Jr., and his daughter, Sara Creasy Kennedy, both of Bedford; a sister, Ada Creasy Johnson of Buena Vista; six grandchildren, Larry Buford Creasy, William Rupert Kennedy, Michael Robert Kennedy and Margaret Kennedy Key, all of Bedford, Charles Lee Creasy of Lynchburg and Mac Henry Kennedy of Richmond, and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Olivet Southern Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael Jones and Margaret Kennedy Key officiating. FRAZIER, Pauline Habernigg, 79, of 402 W. Wolf Street, Narrows, died Friday, March 22, 1996 at her residence. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born on July 4, 1916 and was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Hattie Mae Elizabeth Rowe Habernigg. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wilbur Frazier and two brothers, E. Roscoe Habernigg and Cromer L. Habernigg. She was a retired school teacher in the Giles County School System, having retired in 1981. She remained active in Civic and church activities and was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Narrows, where she was a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was an active member and held several offices in the American Legion Post #68 Auxiliary. She was a member of the Narrows Business and Professional Association and remained active in the operation of Johnny's Tall Boy Restaurant in Narrows. She is survived by a son and his wife, John T. and Carol S. Frazier of Narrows; a daughter and her husband, Ellene and Pat Johnson, Radford; three sisters, Dorothy Tomlinson, Blacksburg, Joanna H. Myers, Pembroke, Georgia H. Williams, Newport; five grandchildren, Debbie F. Fleeman and her husband, Ronnie of Narrows, Greg Frazier and his wife, Barbara of Blacksburg, Scott P. Johnson, Radford, Paige Herndon and her husband, John of Radford, Sherry Lowe and her husband, Russell of Rich Creek, Chad Fleeman and Amber Fleeman, both of Narrows, Devon Frazier, Blacksburg, Brandon Lowe, Rich Creek; and many nieces and nephews. JARRELLS, Katie Ophelia Tolbert, 82, of Pulaski, formerly of Hiwassee, Va., passed away Friday, March 22, 1996 at her home following a long illness. Born September 28, 1913 in Dublin, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Iowa Mabry Tolbert. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clarence Shelor Jarrells, and also a son, Clarence Mitchell Jarrells, a sister, Anna Belle Tolbert, and four brothers, Leonard Tolbert, Archie Tolbert, C. O. Tolbert and Donald Tolbert. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, Hiwassee, Virginia. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Beatrice) Ayers, Beckley, W. Va., Mrs. Rodney (Annie) Gravley, Pulaski, Mrs. John (Betty) Miles Jr., Silver Springs, Md., Mrs. Billy (Mary) Crawford, Dublin, Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Branson, Pulaski; three sisters, Ruby Marshall, Pulaski, Elizabeth Curtis, Rockville, Md., Dorothy McClure, Stoneville, N.C.; two brothers, David Tolbert, Rockville, Md., Eddie Tolbert, Jr., Pulaski; thirteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. JOHNSTON, Ernest Monroe, 80, of Lillington, N.C., and formerly of Staffordsville, d ied Thursday, March 21, 1996, at his home. He was born October 18,1905 in Giles County, Va., the son of the late James Watson and Virginia Carr Johnston. He was a retired electrician at Radford Army Ammunition Plant and was a member of Wabash Lodge #189 I.O.O.F. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lula Gray Johnston, and a son, Randy Blake Johnston. C. and the Roanoke, worked with Norfolk and Virginian Rail road, Dept. of the Navy and the American Viscose. She was a member of the Vinton Moose Lodge #1551 as former Secretary/Reporter. OVERFELT, Herbert Dewitt, 63, of Rocky Mount, passed away Saturday, March 23, 1996 at his residence, having fought a long battle with cancer. Mr. Overfelt served two years in Berlin, Germany in the United States Army as a SPC4, was retired from General Electric, where he was in supervision, was a life-time member of the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Assistant Supt. of Sunday School, served on the Steering Committee board, Youth Director, Board of Trustees, Church choir, and he was a past member of the Rocky Mount Lions Club. He helped organize the Dixie Youth Baseball in Franklin County, where he was one of the first coaches. he was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Dewitt and Rosie H. Overfelt, and one brother, Harry CLine Overfelt.
