BRILLHART, Enola W. Smith, (``Pat""), 91, of Roanoke and Craig Creek, entered life eternal on Saturday, March 23, 1996. Enola was the eldest daughter of J. Frank Smith and Martha Alice Smith. She attended National Business College, was employed by Double Envelope and was a member of Central Church of the Brethren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Smith Adamson, and a brother, Eldon Wayne Smith. She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years and 10 months, Frank Harrison Brillhart. Also surviving are four sisters, Nina Lurleline S. Ferguson of Roanoke, Margarette S. Puckett of Wytheville, Inez S. Graham of Virginia Beach and Adrienne S. LeSueur of Buchanan; devoted nurses, Shirley Minter and Rebecca Paxton, and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Parlors A and B of Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. A service of remembrance will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 1996, in the parlor by the Rev. David Yingling and the Rev. Joy Sylvester-Johnson. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Devotion.

BRUGH, India Delphine, 69, of Roanoke, died peacefully at home Saturday, March 23, 1996. She was originally from Draper, Va., and was the daughter of the late Posey William and Dora Verona Duncan. She retired from Halmode Apparel Inc., and was a faithful member of Oakland Baptist Church where for many years she taught the Preschool Sunday School Class. Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Warren W. Brugh; five daughters, Belinda Mercer of Richmond, Darlene Cowling of Canton, Ohio, Renne Goldman of Buda, Texas, Janice McCord of Austin, Texas, and Marianne Nivero of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Doris Hunter of Emerald Isle, N.C., and June Sturgill of Independence; nine grandchildren, and loving and devoted friends, neighbors and relatives. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 26, 1996, at 11 a.m. at the Oakland Baptist Church, with the Rev. H. Kelly Dampeer Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rader Funeral Home, Troutville.

CARTER, Lawson Wayne, 71, of Salem, died Sunday, March 24, 1996, at his home after a lengthy bout with heart disease. Mr. Carter served in the United States Navy during World War II, worked for 18 years as personnel manager for Leas and McVitty Tannery, and served as the Commissioner of Revenue for the City of Salem from 1976 until his retirement in 1989. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Thomas Carter, and he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Shaw Carter; a son, Gary Wayne Carter and his wife, Cathy, and granddaughters, Emma and Elizabeth Carter, all of Alexandria. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 1996, at the Salem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lew Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. The family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Salem Baptist Church or the Good Samaritan Hospice.

CLARKE, Julia Rine, 84, of Vinton, formerly of Wheeling, W.Va., passed away Sunday, March 24, 1996. Arrangements by Kepner Funeral Home, Elm Grove, W.Va.

COOKE, Wiley Otis, 74, born on August 15, 1921, of 838 Tanglewood Drive, Martinsville, formerly of Route 8, Laurel Park, died in the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Salem late Saturday, March 23, 1996. He was born in Roanoke to the late Dewey H. Cooke Sr. and the late Odie Wiley Cooke. He was married to the late Juilanne Stone Cook, and his last employment was in the mail room of the Veterans Hospital in Salem. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. Survivors are his daughters, Mrs. Jasper (Julia) Peters of Axton and Mrs. Carolyn Diane Canupp of Martinsville; his sons, Robert G. Cooke of Martinsville and Richard T. Cooke of Roanoke; his sister, Mrs. Mary Lee Watson of Roanoke; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a son, Wiley Otis Cooke Jr.; a brother, Dewey H. Cooke Jr., and a sister, Marjorie McCue. A funeral service will be conducted in the Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel, Ridgeway, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 1996, with the Rev. Charles R. Tomlinson officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 1996, in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, with full military honors presented by V.F.W. Post #1264 of Roanoke. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, and at the residence, 838 Tanglewood Drive, at any time. Tomlinson Funeral Home, Ridgeway, is in charge of arrangements.

FINNEY, James Matthew, 66, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, March 24, 1996. He was the son of the late Zack and Agnes Austin Finney. He worked on the ship dock in New York for many years before returning home. Survivors include four sisters, Agnes Ferguson, Mabel Hayes, Alma Finney, all of Roanoke, Lucille (Roger) Brown, Washington, D.C.; one brother, Melvin Finney, Roanoke; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 11 a.m., at the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel. Interment will be in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Friends may also call Hamlar-Curtis on Tuesday for viewing

HARRY, Charles Raymond, 93, of Roanoke and Erwin, Tenn., passed away Friday, March 22, 1996. Graveside services 1 p.m. Monday, Evergreen Burial Park. Arrangements by Oakey's Vinton Chapel.

HENLEY, Josephine Phyllis Taylor, 63, of Dublin, died Saturday, March 23, 1996. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday, from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski.

HYLTON, Estein Moir, 83, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, March 24, 1996, at his home. He was a retired Naval officer, veteran of World War II, serving on the U.S.S. Helm and the U.S.S. Richmond. He retired from Nationwide Insurance Company with 25 years of service. Mr. Hylton was a member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church for over 50 years, a life member of the Retired Officers Association, and a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. He was the son of the late William German and Lora Willis McNichols Hylton. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Hylton and William M. Hylton. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary Turner Hylton; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Frank and Wilna C. Hylton of Silver Spring, Md., and John M. and Linda H. Hylton of Roanoke; one grandson, Jeffrey David Hylton and wife Lisa S. Hylton of Rockville, Md.; twin great-grandchildren, Erin Shannon and Kevin Paul Hylton; a great-grandson, Connor Michael Hylton; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert C. and Jane H. Hylton of Fayetteville, N.C., and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen Hylton Pri ngle of Greensboro, N.C., Dorothy Hylton and William Laughlin of Summerville, S.C., and Sylvia Hylton and Wayne Craun of Harrisonburg. Funeral services will be at Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 1996, with the Rev. Wm. Anthony Layman and Dr. George Wesley Jones officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. SHELBURNE, John Wesley,10 of Radford, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 23, 1996, at the age of 81. He was born on February 23, 1915, to the late John Wesley and Martha Jane Burnette Shelburne. He was a lifelong farmer and resident of Montgomery and Pulaski Counties, and retired from Hercules in 1977 with 25 years of service. He was a school bus driver for Pulaski County, and held offices in the Snowville Elementary School P.T.A. while raising his children. He also held offices and was a Deacon and Trustee in his dearly loved Snowville Christian Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Hawaiian Islands. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Simon, Ferd, Roscoe and Bill Shelburne, and one sister, Irene Hedge. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Georgia Albert Shelburne; two sons and daughters-in-law, LeRoy B. and Dayna Shope Shelburne of Lake Worth, Fla., and the Rev. John Mitchell and the Rev. Annelle Strong Shelburne of Cleveland, Miss.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis S. and Ron Barker of Richmond, and Carolyn S. and Tommy Estes of Radford; eight grandchildren, Amanda and John Kelly Shelburne of Cleveland, Miss., Dean Barker of Williamsburg, Joy Barker and Wendy Evans of Richmond, April Prickett of Perry, Ga., and January and Thomas Estes III of Radford; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Christopher Evans of Richmond; two brothers, Roy M. Shelburne of Riner and Gilbert F. Shelburne of Radford; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Phillips of Radford and Mrs. Ruby Shanklin of Snowville; a brother-in-law, Edgar Albert of Gretna, and four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Eola Moore of Christiansburg, Mrs. Hester Albert of Danville, Mrs. Edna Shelburne of Snowville and Mrs. Rachael Shelburne of Radford. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 26, 1996, at 2 p.m. at the Snowville Christian Church, with the Rev. Mary Kearns and the Rev. Mitchell Shelburne officiating. Burial will follow in the Shelburne Family Cemetery in Snowville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Snowville Christian Church or to the National Alzheimer's Association in memory of John Wesley Shelburne. The family wishes to thank all the nurses and staff of Heritage Hall Nursing Home of Blacksburg who have become a part of our family. Also, a special thank you to Mrs. Betty Farmer of Dublin, Mrs. Pat Krebs of Gentle Shepherd Hospice and a special niece, Rita Beckner, for their many hours of love and support. TAYLOR, Squire Osborne, 92, of Fries, died Saturday, March 23, 1996 at his home. Mr. Taylor was a seventy year member of the Dixie Lodge #202 A.M. & F.M. and also a member of the Fries United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mary Jo Pittman, and is survived by his wife, Hope Bartlett Taylor; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and John Houston, Abingdon; sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Phyllis Taylor, Annandale, Edwin and Yvonne Taylor, Alexandria, Kenneth and Sharon Taylor, Norton; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Timothy and Sandy Taylor, San Diego, Calif., T. J. Taylor, Woodbridge, Andrew Taylor, Norton, John Paul and Rainey Houston, Floyd, James and Tera Houston, New Castle; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Mary and Marwan Kassem, Arlington, Julie and Charles Osborne, Gate City, Alison Taylor, Annandale, Jennifer Brown, Abingdon, Rebecca Taylor, Norton; great-grandchildren, Anne, John William, Cora, and Thomas Houston, all of Floyd, Emily Osborne, Gate City, Mina Kassem, Arlington, Megan Pittman, Tyler, Texas, Jessica and Kelly Brown, Abingdon; sister-in-law, Margaret Taylor, Independence; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 1996, at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Bob Billingsley and the Rev. Ted Bartlett. Interment will follow in the McKenzie Cemetery. Masonic Rites will be held at the graveside by the Dixie Lodge #202 A.F. & A.M. The family will receive friends at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home, Galax, from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday evening.
