Expect to share the highways with growing numbers of recreation vehicles this year.
Research by the Travel Industry Association of America shows 22 percent of Americans plan to travel in an RV this spring, up from 15 percent in 1995.
That means more new RVs on the road, said David Humphreys, president of the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association.
``All the elements that traditionally help the RV industry - low interest rates, steady gas prices and stable consumer confidence - are in place,'' he said.
Leading the current sales are folding camping trailers, with an increase of 20 percent last year. Truck campers, those units that sit in the back of a pickup, also showed a sales increase, enjoying their greatest popularity since the 1970s.
