ALLEN, Nettie Moore, 76, of 357 Washington Drive, Clemmons, N.C., died Tuesday, March 26, 1996, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. She was born July 14, 1919 in Gaston County, N.C. to George H. and Elizabeth Watson Moore. Mrs. Allen was a faithful member and Past Matron of Order of the Eastern Star, Clemmons Chapter 373. She was a member of Westview Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. Surviving are her husband, W. E. ``Gene'' Allen, of the home; four daughters and their husbands, Janice H. and William L. Beam of Winston-Salem, Martha H. and Reich L. Welborn of Durham, Susan H. and Ronald D. Frye of Terrell, and Karen H. and Jack W. Griffith of Roanoke; six grandchildren, R. Jeffrey Kirk and wife, Teresa, Judson A. Welborn, Spencer B. Welborn, D. Shane Frye, Mitzi E. Griffith, and Jessica E. Griffith; three sisters, Ruth M. Allen and Lillian M. Bland, both of Roanoke, and Geneva M. Huffstetler of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Westview Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Carlton T. Mitchell and the Rev. Tom Womble. Entombment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. ATWELL, Arlis Leon, 51, of Marion, died Tuesday, March 26, 1996, in Smyth County Community Hospital. Mr. Atwell was an employee of Marley Mouldings for 26 years. He is survived by his wife, Linda Dowell Atwell, Marion; two daughters, Peggy Vannoy, Marion, Jeannie Davidson, Marion; mother and stepfather, Mae and Joe Corvin, Rural Retreat; three sisters, Irene Flowers, Hillsville, Lucy Arnold, Hillsville, Rosie Gross, Marion; one brother, Robert Corvin, Crockett. He is also survived by three grandsons and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 29, at 11 a.m. in Barnett's Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Alvin Barry officiating. Burial will follow in the Wassum Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Barnett's Funeral Home.

CROCKETT, Cynthia Lynne, 39, of Wytheville, died Wednesday, March 27, 1996 in the Lewis Gale Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Wytheville, where she graduated from George Wythe High School. She attended Emory and Henry College and was a former employee of The Southwest Virginia Enterprise and American Screw Co. and a member of the New Covenant Fellowship Church. She is survived by her parents, L. Hargus and Mary Jane Crockett of Wytheville; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas ``Tom"" and Susan Crockett of Gloucester; a niece, Amy Crockett; a nephew, Michael Crockett; also several other relatives. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, 1996 at the New Convenant Fellowship Church, 2150 West Ridge Road, Wytheville, with Pastor Benny Anglin officiating. Interment will follow in the West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday after 4 p.m. at the residence of her father, L. Hargus Crockett. DUNCAN, Ethel S., 86, of Dillwyn, died Tuesday, March 26, 1996. She was the widow of Harve Curtis Duncan. She is survived by two stepsons, H. C. Duncan Jr. of Dillwyn and Ronald E. Duncan of Roanoke; three sisters, Linda Sheffield of Farmville, Miss., Pearl Stinson of Burkeville, and Rosa S. Carroll of Roanoke; a brother, George Stinson of Powhatan; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery. GARDNER, Lowman Alfred, 88, of Hillsville, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 1996, at his home. Born on March 4, 1908, in Carroll County, he was a son of the late Joh n William and Jessie Coulson Gardner. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Jane Gardner; four brothers, Barnett, Sherman, Howard and Chester Gardner; two sisters, Sara Armstrong and Beulah Akers, and two grandchildren, Deborah Lyn Gardner and C. Wayne Tolbert. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Blankenship Gardner; a son and daughter-in-law, Alfred and Mary Ellen Gardner of Blue Ridge; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary and Jessie Murphy of Dublin and Iris Brown of Gloucester; nine half brothers and half sisters, nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 1996, at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Mackey officiating. HALL, Willie Currie, Jr., 72, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 1996, in the Virginia Veterans Care Center. He was born July 16, 1923, to the late Willie C. and Lillie Currie Hall in Winston-Salem, N.C. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired after 20 years of service. He then moved to Boston and worked for the First National Bank of Boston for many years before retirement. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Jackson C. Hall Jr. (owners of Life Styles Beauty Salon and Supplies) of Chesapeake; one son, Darryl Hall of Norfolk; four sisters, Maddie Caldwell and Alma Clement of Winston-Salem, Lillie Gibson of Rochester, N.Y., and Florence Brown of San Diego, Calif.; three brothers, Marion Hall and Henry Wade of Winston-Salem and Vernon Hall of Detroit, Mich.; four grandchildren, Natouri, Jennifer, Nyle and Jalyn, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. HARVEY, Paul P., 89, of Eagle Rock, died Wednesday, March 27, 1996 in a Roanoke hospital. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and George Bryant, Eagle Rock, Barbara and Tom Sattaleh, Roanoke; two grandchildren, Robbie McMullen and Nikki McMullen. MITCHELL, Eleanor Honaker, 61, of Blue Ridge, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 27, 1996. She was a member of Bonsack Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Robert W. MUNSEY, Floyd Rufus Jr., 75, of Dallastown, Pa., and formerly of Roanoke, passed away February 2, 1996, at the Victorian Villa. He retire d in January, 1993, as a Typographer for the Baltimore Sun. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Dew Munsey, Baltimore, Md.; son and wife, Jim and Sue Munsey, Shrewsbury, Pa.; sister, Lillian Munsey Smith; beloved granddaughter, ``Christy""; sisters-in-law, Georgette and Jean Dew; brother-in-law, David Dew; nieces, Joyce Rhodes Oliver, Rebecca Moses Goode, and Connie Moses Guthrie; great-niece, Tamara Goode; various cousins and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Rufus Munsey Sr. and Emma Sink Munsey; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Morris K. ``Ted"" Moses; niece, Katherine Sue Moses; brother-in-law, Roderick Dew. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Burial Park at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 30. ROBERTSON, Mabel W., 79, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, formerly of Rockbridge Co., died Tuesday, March 26, 1996, at her residence. Born April 20, 1916, in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mabel Leibig Watts. Mrs. Robertson was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Mount Vernon, and was the widow of Lester Robertson. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ted and Buddy Robertson; a sister, Blanche Steel; and five brothers, Horace, John, Robert, Harry, and George Watts. Surviving are one daughter, Barbara J. Day of Mount Vernon, Ohio; one brother, Henry Watts, Lexington; one sister, Margaret Wayland, Baltimore, Md.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 30, 1996, at 3 p.m. from the Harrison Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. David Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. SALYERS, Bobby Lee Jessee, 67, of Christiansburg, a former resident of Russell County, died Monday, March 25, 1996, in Charlottesville. She was the widow of Willie O'dell Salyers, and was a retired District Manager for World Book Encyclopedia in Virginia and later in Kentucky. She was a member, Sunday School teacher and choir member at Belmont Baptist Church in Roanoke in the 1950s. She transferred membership to First Baptist Church in Bristol, Va., in 1960 and was a Sunday School teacher there. She lived in Johnson City, Tenn., and Pikeville, Ky. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Lee Wilkinson of Charlottesville; four sons, Willie Neal Salyers of San Antonio, Texas, Gary Carter Salyers of Christiansburg, Larry Wayne Salyers of Graham, N.C., and Randall Curtis Salyers of Bristol, Tenn.; three brothers, John B. Jessee and William H. Jessee of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Paul A. Jessee of Bristol, Va.; three sisters, Charlotte Kabler of Roanoke, Gloria Jean Gilly of Pound and Susie Correa of Orlando, Fla., and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Huff-Cook Funeral Chapel, Castlewood. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood.
