AEP APPOINTS REGIONAL MANAGERS

The Roanoke-based Central Virginia region of American Electric Power Co. Inc. has appointed five people to staff positions as part of its restructuring. The utility is changing from a multicompany electric system to a single company operating in seven states.

DAVID M. GORDON, region operations manager, formerly was transmission and distribution superintendent for the former Lynchburg division of Appalachian Power Co. He has been with the company since 1980.

MICHAEL J. MERCIER, region engineering manager, previously was engineering supervisor for the former Roanoke division's transmission and distribution engineering group. He joined the power company in 1985.

R.C. "DICK" SHEPARD, region customer services manager, formerly was customer services supervisor in the former Lynchburg division. He came to company in 1968.

R.A. "RICK" DIETZ, region environmental engineer, has been with the company since 1992, previously as an environmental specialist in Roanoke.

HAROLD C. WISEMAN, previously marketing and customer services manager for the former Roanoke division, is region administrator. He joined the company in 1976.

The Central Virginia region, one of 12 energy distribution regions created in the reorganization, encompasses the area formerly served by the Roanoke and Lynchburg division of AEP's Appalachian Power Co.

BANKING

DONALD L. WILLIAMS JR. has joined Bank of Botetourt as UVEST Investment Services representative. Williams, who has seven years of experience in the brokerage industry, will work in the bank's Troutville office.

JOHN D. KELLY has been promoted to vice president of Premier Bank's Salem office. He will continue as regional supervisor over the Shawsville and Salem operations of Premier. EDIE T. SAUNDERS has been named assistant vice president at the Salem branch, where she will continue as a loan officer.

MARTHA D. SHIFFLETT and J. RANDY WOODSON have been promoted to senior vice presidents, and ELIZABETH A. FANNIN and CAROLYN G. BALTHIS have been promoted to vice presidents at Crestar Bank in Roanoke. Shifflett is commercial accounts manager; Woodson deals with commercial accounts in the Roanoke Valley; Fannin is manager for the Crossroads and Williamson Road branches; and Balthis is manager for the Towers and Tanglewood branches.

HEALTH CARE

CHARLES BRENNEMAN has been promoted to director of engineering at Lewis-Gale Medical Center where he will be responsible for the management and operation of the mechanical and electrical systems and for construction. Brenneman joined Lewis-Gale as assistant director of engineering in 1993.

SCOTT ELLIOTT, formerly a part-time technician for the Western Virginia branch office of Old Dominion Eye Bank, has been promoted to branch coordinator for the Central Southwestern Virginia branch. He will be responsible for hospital development activities in Roanoke and the surrounding area, which includes 15 donor hospitals.

SUSAN WIRT has been elected president of the Virginia Association of Rehabilitation Nurses. She is owner of Wirt & Associates, an independent case management company based in Salem which provides consultative services to insurance carriers, employers, physicians and attorneys.

MEDIA

MICKEY M. JOHNSON has been promoted to local sales manager at WSLS (Channel 10) in Roanoke. Johnson was senior account executive at the station, where he has been employed since 1989.

DENNIS E. SUBLETT of Bedford County has been named manager of creative services at Lynchburg-based WSET (Channel 13). He has been at the station for 12 years, formerly as director-editor and videographer-editor. He will be responsible for producing and editing commercials.
